At a meeting of the selectmen on the 6 I of April 1697, Samuel Balch brought the following receipt that
is. Beverly April 2, 1697. Received of Samuel Balch of said town forty two shillings of money on account
of money due to me from said town of Beverly, I say received by me.

The which forty two shillings money was paid by order of the selectmen, and the town is now indebted to
the said Samuel Balch, said sum of forty two shillings money on the account above said.
