1696-07-21[Town Meeting July 21, 1696] At a legal meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Beverly, on the 21st day of July, 1696, Mr. Thomas West, Mr. Robert Bradford, Deacon John Hill, Edward Dodge & Samuel Balch were chosen as assessors for said town, for the proportioning the tax set to our town, granted to his Majesty according to act of the Great and General Court or assembly, dated May 27, 1696. This indentment, bargain & agreement made this 7th day of April one thousand six hundred ninety and six, and in the eighth year of the reign of our Lord, William 3rd of England, King & between John Raymond junr., of the Town of Beverly, in the County of Essex, in His Majesties Province of the Massachusetts Bay, in New England, on the one part, and Deacon John Hill, Mr. Robert Bradford, Mr. Thomas West, Edward Dodge and Samuel Balch, Selectmen of the Town of Beverly, on the other party, which are as followeth, viz.:
