1695-04-04[Selectmen's Meeting April 4, 1695] At a meeting of the Selectmen April 4, 1695, Joseph Herrick who was Constable for the year 1694, brought the receipt following. Received of Joseph Herrick junr., Constable, seven pounds or by his order, for my pains from November 1, 1694 to March 1, 1694/5 being four months. Received this 4th of April 1695. By me John Hale At the same meeting of the Selectman the above said Joseph Herrick, brought the following receipt. The 4 I of April 1695. Then received of Joseph Herrick, Constable the full sum of five pounds in money. I say received by me Andrew Elliott, and the above said Lieut. Andrew Elliott is hereby paid five pounds in money, in part of a debt due him from the town, for services at General Court as a representative in the year 1694. At the same town meeting of the selectmen the above - mentioned Joseph Herrick, who was Constable for the year 1694, paid the sum of £02:07:04 out of the town rate now in his hands, that is to say 10 shillings 11 pence to Lieut. William Dodge, and seven shillings, eleven pence to Capt. John Dodge by discounting their town rates, and to Sgt. Zachariah Herrick the sum of 19 shillings, 10 pence due to him on account of his assessorship for the year 1694, and eight shillings, eight pence to Sgt. John Balch on the account & above said the which five pounds to Lieut. Andrew Elliott, and the two pounds, seven shillings and four pence above said is in the whole seven pounds, seven shillings and four pence, is now paid by the above said Joseph Herrick, out of the town's rate committed to him, according to record bearing date the 11 of February 1694/5.
