1695-09-18[Town Meeting September 18, 1695] At a general town meeting legally warned, holden on the 18th day of September, 1695; whereas complaint hath been made by some inhabitants of Manchester, that the highway or country road between their said town & our meeting house, has been stopped and barred in diverse places; whereupon it was voted in said meeting by the inhabitants to then convene that Capt. Paul Thorndike, Capt. John Dodge, Capt. William Raymond, Lieut. William Dodge, Deacon John Hill & Andrew Elliott, were chosen and appointed a committee with full powers & authority, they or the major part of them, with some of the inhabitants of said Manchester, to settle & confirm said highway, as might be most convenient for both said towns, & to prevent future trouble. The overplus of Constable John Trask's country list, bearing date the 14 of August 1695 is £ 1:11:07. The overplus of Constable Jacob Grigg's country list, bearing date the 14 of August, 1695 is £01:10:05. That a general town meeting legally warned & holden on the 18 of September 1695 it was voted that a committee chosen March the 5th, 1693 to inspect all particular persons and bounds, bounding on our town common, are now fully empowered to seize all such lands of our town's common, as are by any particular person or persons encroached within their bounds, and sell the same & to deliver the money received for all lands so sold to the town treasurer, to be improved for the use of the town.
