1694-04-09[Selectmen's Meeting April 9, 1694] At a meeting of the Selectmen of Beverly on the 9th day of April 1694 was a list of a country rate made, amounting to eight pounds, nine shillings and ten pence, and a warrant made upon the same the 12th day of April 1694 and committed to Constable Joseph Herrick for the collecting & gathering, to be paid in money or equivalent thereto, & and to pay into the treasurer for this County, the sum of seven pounds & nine shillings, on or before the 1st day of May next ensuing, and the remaining being £01:00:10 he is to pay into the Selectmen for the use of the town. At the same time and meeting of the Selectmen the 9th of April, 1694, was also a County rate made and warrants write upon it, on the 12th day of said month in said year, and committed to Constable Samuel Stone for the collecting and gathering, to be paid in money or equivalent thereto, and to pay into the treasurer of this County, the sum of seven pounds & nine shillings, on or before the first day of May next ensuing, and the remainder being 10 shillings he is to pay into the Selectmen for the use of the town.
