1693-05-08[Town Meeting May 8, 1693] At a general town meeting of the freeholders & of the inhabitants of Beverly, qualified according to law, warned by the constables of said town, for the choice of jurors to serve at Ipswich at a court of assize, on the 9 th of May 1693, the said meeting being on 8 May 1693, the inhabitants then convened, made choice of Nathaniel Stone senr., & Cpl. Samuel Corning to serve on the grand jury for said court, and Joseph Dodge & William Elliott to serve on the jury of trials for said court. At the same town meeting it was also voted that there shall be a committee chosen to draw up some proposals for the regulating disorders in our town, and prevention of the spill of wood and timber on our town's common land, with all such proposals as shall be thought fit for the ordering of our town affairs, for orders and bylaws to be presented to the Quarter Sessions, and the persons chosen for the committee above said are as followeth, viz: Capt. Paul Thorndike, Lieut. Andrew Elliott and Lieut. William Dodge.
