1691-08-14[Town Meeting August 14, 1691] At a general town meeting: on the 14th day of August, 1691, Mr. Isaac Woodbury senr. Was chosen commissioner to join with the selectmen of our town of Beverly, in taking of a list of all the male persons in our town from 16 years old & and upwards, to a true estimate of all personal & real estate, according to law. At the same town meeting, it was considered that whereas there was sometime a cart highway laid out from John Grover's bottom commonly so- called, unto the land of Samuel Haskell, it was voted & agreed upon that said cart way should be from the date hereof, [illegible] into a drift highway for the town's use. At the same time meeting; upon the request of Deacon John Hill, there was granted unto Roger Hill, a liberty to cut, fell & carry away in & from any of our town common swampland, ten cord of wood or thereabouts to make [illegible] for his use.
