1693-06-12[Selectmen's Meeting June 12, 1693] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 12 I of June, 1693, then received of Samuel Morgan senr., a bill obligating the sum, seven pounds to be paid by the 10th of September next ensuing, the which bill being paid is in full satisfaction for all rates committed to him, the said Morgan, during the time of his constable in 1689. At a meeting of the Selectmen 12th of June, 1693, John Dodge who was constable the year 1691, made payment to the sum of £3:14:02, that is to say sixteen shillings, 06 by Gabriel Wood's rates, & nine shillings by Christ. Read's, rates & eight shillings and five pence by credit on town book & by allowance to Nath. Carroll & widow Green five shillings, and one pound, five shillings and three pence, by the above record bearing date the 17th March 1691/2. Any meeting of the Selectmen on the 12 I of June, 1693, then reckoned with Lieut. John Dodge, with respect to a record in our old town book bearing date 15th March, 1681/2, wherein the said Dodge, hath credit to the value of £04:14:05, and the said John Dodge did then acknowledge that he has fully paid the said £04:14:05, by money received, the which was gathered by contributions, for the redemption of a Leitchfield out of Turkish captivity, but not being improved for said use, was by general vote of the town at a public town meeting ordered to the public use of town, as appears by record on our old town book, dated the 6th, 9th month; '82.
