1692-10-10[Selectmen's Meeting October 10, 1692] 10th October, 1692. At a meeting of the Selectmen of Beverly, according to an act or vote of our town of Beverly, bearing date 29 June 1691, did mete and proportion the country and town ways into three parts, and appoint men for every part, that is to say one hundred men or thereabouts, that is to say from the ferry so far as our bounds extends towards Wenham, and Horse Bridge, commonly so- called, and also a new way that goes from the gate by Andrew Elliott's, that winds up by Samuel Hibbert's, 2: for the outlet way, about twenty men, 3:, about thirty men for Mackerel Cove ways. And there were chosen for surveyors for our country and town highways, first for the way that runs to Wenham, and Horse Bridge, and the way that runs from Hazediah Smith's, & and so to James Taylor's, Mark Haskell's, Edward Dodge, Ebenezer Woodberry. 2: for the outlet ways Thomas Whittridge. 3: for Mackerel Cove ways George Hull, and Joseph Lovett.
