2013-03-12BEVERLY GOLF & TENNIS March 12, 2013 Meeting Minutes COMMISSIONERS Mr. Lowd Mr. Crandell Mr. Lawler Mr. Richardson Mr. Lambert GFMI Mr. Carter Mr. Page Guest Mr. Dunn Meeting called to order at 7pm. Minutes for February Mr. Crandell motioned to accept the February minutes, seconded by Mr. Lawler. Motion carried 4 -0. Finance Report Mr. Lawler distributed the up -to -date Maintenance and Bond Accounts to the Commission members and reviewed the expenses that were affected in February. John Dunn Report (Capital Improvements) Mr. Dunn presented changes made by Mass. Historic changing decking to wood. Mr. Dunn continued to indicate that mahogany was chosen due to durability and longevity. They did receive a waiver from the Elevator Board. The City Electrician found lighting that may be suitable for the main gate entrance and Mr. Dunn passed a photo around for the members to view. A "Construction Time Line" was distributed to the Commission members from start to finish. Mr. Page did indicate that there are functions scheduled prior to the finish date; the contractor has promised to make the site presentable for his functions. Page 2 Mr. Page indicated some damage done by the contractors to interior of the building; Mr. Dunn will address it towards the end of construction and asked him to compile a list. Mr. Dunn invited Mr. Carter to the next Contractor's meeting The Carter Report Mr. Carter distributed an up -to -date membership list; 137 paid thus far. He also stated that the snow is melting. They are cleaning up the front of the building. There are 60 new golf carts; retaining 15 old carts. He would like to start the season in the new maintenance garage by getting the lift operational and to install the light fixtures. Mr. Carter also stated that he will set up a meeting with Paul Meridian to start the process of the handicap bathrooms in the clubhouse for the members. There is a leak in the mud room on the lower level that needs to be addressed. The Burt Page Report Mr. Page distributed his spreadsheet for February. He indicated that The Mason Lodge would like to make Beverly Golf & Tennis their new home. He is anticipating a good year. He also stated that the beer chest control box has broken and will be replaced. He is hoping it will resolve the problem; and also mentioned there are constant problems with the lines in the streets. The Dionne Report Mr. Dionne indicated that the new bench came out nice. Public A question from the public regarding the use of mahogany vs a less costly material on the deck. Mr. Dunn indicated that the cost of mahogany equals concrete and will have the same durability. Mass. Historic stipulated the use of wood. The mahogany will accept stain, weathers nice, will sustain foot traffic and is low maintenance. Meeting adjourned 8pm.
