1. 298 Cabot Street — Facade Improvement Program: Kitty O'Shea's — Albert Lane, 298 Cabot
Street, Beverly, MA 01915
Mr. Lane presents his proposal for facade work at his business. He is proposing to paint the sign maroon
with black letters, paint the doors black, paint the columns forest green with gold moldings and paint the
inset of the moldings maroon. All of the hardware will be brass. He is also replacing the windows and
adding window boxes.
Matthews asks about the sign. Lane states that the background is maroon with black letters and gold trim.
Bebergal asks if the plantings in the window boxes will change with the seasons. Lane responds that he
plans to change them to reflect the seasons.
Newhall confirms all of the facade treatments: windows, painting, flower boxes, signs, and asks if the
upper level residential part of the building will also be painted. Lane responds that it will remain vinyl.
Newhall: Motion to recommend approval of the facade as presented to Beverly Main Streets, seconded by
Mathews. All in favor.
2. 110 Cabot Street — Sandwich Board Sign: Marciano Associates — Paul Marciano, 110 Cabot
Street, Beverly, MA 01915
Mr. Marciano presents his proposal for a sandwich board sign for his business. The A -Frame sign will
measure 3' in height by 2' in width and be constructed of PVC with a layer of metal/aluminum for
strength with vinyl graphics. The sign will have a gold and black color scheme and read, "Marciano
Associates" "Paul Marciano CPA" "Accounting & Tax Services ".
Matthews asks where it will be located. Marciano states that it will be placed to the left of his front door
and that he has some space in the same building where CCI Reprographics is located.
Bruce: Motion to recommend approval of the sandwich board sign design as presented to the City
Council, seconded by Matthews. All in favor.
3. 445 Rantoul Street — Legendary Motors, LLC — Thomas Manetta, Jr., 15 Boardman Lane,
Topsfield, MA 01983
Mr. Manetta presents his proposal for a wall sign that will measure 32" in height and just under 80" in
length. The sign will be constructed of vinyl graphics placed onto an aluminum panel. The background

of the sign is white with black text reading, "Legendary Motors, LLC." There will be a black wing design
with a red circle in the center with an "LM" logo in white in the circle.
In addition to the wall sign, Mr. Manetta is proposing to install two smaller window graphics. One of the
graphics is identical to the wall sign and the other is an outline of a red truck with black text reading,
"Auto Appraisal Network." These graphics will be placed on the windows flanking the door.
Bruce asks what is up there currently. Manetta states that all prior signage is gone, but is passes out
photos showing what used to be on the building.
Matthews asks if the sign will face Rantoul Street. Manetta responds that the sign faces the intersection
of Rantoul and Elliott Streets since the door to the business is on the corner of the building.
Newhall confirms that there is no illumination.
Bruce confirms that address of the building, 445 Rantoul. Manetta responds that the address is 445
Rantoul, Suites 1, 2, and 3.
Bruce: Motion to approve the sign design as presented, seconded by Matthews. All in favor.
4. 445 Rantoul Street, Suite C — Restorations by Roy Sign — Archie Roy Hector, 835 Belmont
Street, Belmont, MA 02478
Mr. Hector presents the proposal for a wall sign that measures 5' in height and 3' in length. The non -
illuminated, aluminum sign will have a green background (which is different from what was originally
proposed) with gold text reading, "Restorations by Roy." The sign also features his logo with is two
branches encircling red and gold "Rs" and a drawing of a white convertible car. Mr. Hector is proposing
to include his phone number in red at the bottom of his sign.
Mr. Hector states that the change in the background color was altered from black to green so that the sign
will match the trim on the building.
Newhall confirms that there will be no illumination.
Bruce confirms location on the building. Mr. Hector states that the sign will face Chestnut Street.
Matthews: Motion to approve the sign design as presented, seconded by Bruce. All in favor.
5. 198 Rantoul Street and 371 Cabot Street — Beverly Bootstrap Signs — Heather Johnston, Beverly
Bootstraps, 371 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA 01915
Ms. Johnston presents sign proposals for two Bootstraps locations. She states that the organization is
rebranding so that the disconnect that currently exists between the thrift shop and the services branches of
Bootstraps is eliminated. This is why all of the signs are virtually identical.
198 Rantoul Street
This is their thrift shop location. Ms. Johnston is proposing two wall signs and one projecting sign. All
of the non - illuminated PVC signs will be almost identical with only slight differences. Each sign has a
gray and white background with white text reading, "Thrift Shop," orange text reading, "Beverly

Bootstraps" and gray text reading, "Embrace. Educate. Empower." The primary wall sign will measure
78" in length by 31" in height; the secondary wall sign will measure 56" in length by 43" in height and
feature white text reading `BeverlyBootstraps.org" along the bottom; and the double -sided projecting sign
will measure 36" in length by 27" in height and feature white text reading, "Donations" with an arrow
along the bottom.
Bruce: Motion to approve the three signs as presented, seconded by Bebergal. All in favor.
371 Cabot Street
Ms. Johnston is proposing a double -sided projecting sign for Bootstrap's office /services building. The
non - illuminated sign will be constructed of PVC and have a gray border with a white background with
gray and orange text reading, "Beverly Bootstraps" "Embrace. Educate. Empower." The sign will also
have their website address located along the bottom of it.
Bruce asks about illumination. Johnston states that there is no illumination.
Newhall asks how this proposed sign will compare in size to the current sign. Johnston states that it will
be a bit smaller in square footage.
Bruce: Motion to approve the projecting sign as presented, seconded by Bebergal. All in favor.
6. 28 Cabot Street — Studio Hair Design — Linda Miller, 28 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA 01915
Ms. Miller presents her sign proposal for two wall signs. Both oval- shaped signs will be non - illuminated
and feature the same sign design and colors. The background of the signs is a black smalt with teal letters
and border. The signs also incorporate a drawing of hair stylist scissors. The primary wall sign measures
63" in length by 36" in height and the secondary wall sign will measure 35" in length by 20" in height.
Bebergal asks if the sign is wood. Miller confirms that the letters will be carved. Scissors will also be
carved in.
Newhall confirms that there will not be any illumination.
Matthews asks if it will be treated for weather. Miller confirms that it will be fine.
Bruce: Motion to approve the signs as presented, seconded by Bebergal. All in favor.
7. 500 Cummings Center — Two Sims: American Renal Associates and Xylem — Beverly Commerce
Park, LLP, 100 Cummings Center, Suite 107L, Beverly, MA 01915
Mr. Steve Drohosky presents sign proposals for two businesses in the Cummings Center. Global
variance. Want to change zoning, SP for signs on upper floors.
American Renal Associates
This business will be occupying must of the upper level space in the newer 500 building at the Cummings
Center that faced McKay and Balch Streets. Mr. Drohosky states that he will be going before the ZBA in
September for a Special Permit for this sign. As proposed, the identical signs will measure a maximum of
45" in height by 23' -8" in length. The internally illuminated aluminum and acrylic letters will be in white

and read, "American Renal" on one line of text with "Associates" on the second line of text. The sign
will also feature the company's triangular logo in red.
Drohosky states that he conducted a site visit with the owners of the company and the Chair of the ZBA,
Day Ann Kelley. It was determined at this site visit that the signs should be lowered to the third floor of
the building so that they are symmetrical with the existing Merrill Lynch signs on both building facades.
Finch: Motion to recommend approval of the sign design, Option E, as presented to the ZBA, seconded
by Bruce. All in favor.
Xylem
This application is also before the ZBA for a Special Permit. The two identical wall signs, which will
face the south and west side of the property along McKay Street will be internally illuminated and
constructed of aluminum and acrylic. The individual blue letters will read, "Xylem" and measure 8' -9
7/8" in length by 3' -5" in height.
Drohosky states that Xylem is leasing 40,000 sf of space and is an international company. One of the sign
locations, facing Rt. 62 is an already pre- approved location according to the "global variance" for site
signage. The second location, facing the pond is not pre- approved. Since this is a large company with
many clients and visitors, they wanted two signs.
Newhall asks about colors permitted by the global variance. Drohosky states that blue is one of the
allowed colors.
Finch: Motion to recommend approval of the sign design as presented to the ZBA, seconded by Bruce.

8. Approval of Minutes — August 2, 2012 Meeting
Bruce: Motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Bebergal. All in favor.
