MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2012
LOCATION. Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road,
Beverly, MA, 01915
PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dawe, DiPaolo, Faulstich, Forgione, Mahoney, Nelson,
Vitale, and White
ABSENT: Commissioner Dettorre
PUBLIC: Craig Schuster, Ken Robinson, Richard Chase, Charlene Chase, Wes Rosen, John
Fiske, Joe Gibbons, and Bill Kossowan
A. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
1. Pledge of Allegiance
2. Reading of the Minutes for May 2012 — Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the
minutes from the May meeting. Commissioner White made a motion to accept the
minutes, seconded by Vice Chairman Mahoney. Motion passed unanimously.
3. Reading of the Financial Report — Commissioner White presented the financial
report and the latest 2013 budget, which was approved at the May BAC meeting.
Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the May financial report, subject
to audit. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Faulstich. Motion passed
unanimously.
4. Presentation(s) —
• Jacob's Engineering — Craig Schuster updated the commission on the air space
analysis photogrammetry. He also stated that the grant funding looked good
for the Reconstruct East Side Ramp & TXY "G" project and that the project
might start in the middle of August instead of September.
5. Chairman's Report —
• Updated to the BAC on the West Side Access Road and East Side
Maintenance Road reconstruction
• Spoke about a clean -up day where airport tenants would bring their old tires,
iron, and scrap wood to the maintenance garage for disposal
• Spoke about brush clearing on the airport
• Said he would talk with the City Solicitor in July regarding Building #45

• Announced retired employee Ken Lewis would be working as needed on the
airport
• Spoke about four (4) advertising fence signs on airport fences bringing in
$1,200 per year
• Announced that the new Airport Rules and Regulations, and the Minimum
Standards are complete
• Mentioned an article in Sport Aviation Magazine with Ace Chase in it
B. OLD BUSINESS:
1) Subcommittee Reports
• Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee — Vice Chairman Mahoney talked about
the visit by State Secretary of Transportation Davey.
• Noise Abatement Subcommittee — No Report
• Facility Maintenance and Website Management Subcommittee — Commissioner
Faulstich discussed disposition options for Building #45. Commissioner
Forgione reported the airport website had 1,130 hits in May and that we need
mailing labels for the newly created abutters list for mailings.
• Public Relations Subcommittee — Commissioner DiPaolo reported giving BVY
airport brochures to state politicians and talked about a local artist who would
paint an airport picture for just the cost of materials. Commissioner White
made a motion to give the artist up to $200 in materials. Vice Chairman
Mahoney seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Environmental Issues Subcommittee (& NSCC Aviation Science Program
Update) — Commissioner Barnico discussed the proposed revised watershed
ordinance.
• Airport Safety & Security Subcommittee — No Report
C. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT:
Airport Manager Mezzetti reported on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly
landing fee collection, East Side & TXY "G" Reconstruction Project, airport's 1,000 -
gallon diesel tank status, Statewide Terminal Building Program, Statewide Taxiway
Marking Project, proposed ASMP projects, annual Runway Safety Action Team
meeting, airport signage, and proposed FAA taxiway sensor tests.

D. NEW BUSINESS:
• ASMP grant to reconfigure diesel tank piping
E. TENANT COMMENTS:
• Bill Kossowan reported on "Cruise Night" and did an airport walk -about per AOPA
request.
• Joe Gibbons reported North Shore Aero Club membership was at 60 and that they are
looking for one more aircraft to lease. He also reported the merge with the MIT Aero
Club is still active.
• Ace Chase reported killing one coyote and one turkey. He also said the Hood Airship
should be at BVY in August /September.
• Wes Rosen, Tower Chief reported on a bird strike (duck) and on a RI National Guard
C -130 doing several take -offs and landings.
• Ken Robinson is very happy with the West Side Access Road reconstruction.

Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner DiPaolo, seconded by Commissioner Forgione. Motion
passed unanimously and meeting adjourned at 9:21PM.
