MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, MAY 14, 2012
LOCATION. Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road,
Beverly, MA, 01915
PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dawe, DiPaolo, Faulstich, Forgione, Mahoney, Nelson,
Vitale, and White
ABSENT: Commissioner Dettorre
PUBLIC: Dave Graham, Ken Robinson, Richard Chase, Charlene Chase, Wes Rosen, Jim
Baker, and Bill Kossowan
A. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
1. Pledge of Allegiance
2. Reading of the Minutes for April 2012 — Chairman Vitale called for a reading of
the minutes from the April meeting. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to
accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Faulstich. Motion passed
unanimously.
3. Reading of the Financial Report — Commissioner White presented the financial
report for April 2012. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the April
financial report, subject to audit. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Barnico. Motion passed unanimously.
4. Presentation(s) —
• Jacob's Engineering — Dave Graham updated the commission on the East Side
Ramp & TXY "G" Reconstruction grant project. He also said there was no
date yet for the photogrammetry portion of the Airspace Surveys Project.
5. Chairman's Report —
• Private investment (hangar construction) at the airport was over $3,000,000.
• MassDOT ASMP (80/20) grant will include the reconstruction of both the
West Side entrance road and the East Side maintenance road.
• Cicoria will do the tree cutting by the dog park.
• We will be ordering a portable welder for the Maintenance shop.

• It was agreed that any purchase over $5,000 will need the approval of the
Airport Commission.
B. OLD BUSINESS:
1) Subcommittee Reports
Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee — Vice Chairman Mahoney reported
that this topic was already covered in the Chairman's Report.
• Noise Abatement Subcommittee — No Report
Facility Maintenance and Website Management Subcommittee — Commissioner
Forgione reported that the airport abutters' database list is complete. There are
383 abutters from Beverly, Danvers, and Wenham. And, the airport website is
averaging over 1,000 hits per month. Fuel pricing will be included in the
website.
• Public Relations Subcommittee — Commissioner DiPaolo talked about
brochure distribution. He also talked about a local artist who told him he
would do a free painting of the airport and to just give him a picture of the
subject matter. Commissioner DiPaolo requested airport pictures.
Environmental Issues Subcommittee (& NSCC Aviation Science Program
Update) — Commissioner Barnico gave an update on the proposed revised
watershed ordinance. He also reported the NSCC had about the same number
of students in the Aviation Science Program.
• Airport Safety & Security Subcommittee — No Report
C. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT:
Airport Manager Mezzetti reported on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly
landing fee collection, East Side & TXY "G" Reconstruction Project, UST
reclassification, Statewide Terminal Building Program, Statewide Taxiway Marking
Program, ASMP West Side Access Road Reconstruction Project, Runway Safety
Action Team meeting, airport signage, and proposed FAA aircraft /taxiway sensor
tests.

• Bill Kossowan updated the commission on the latest AOPA and North Shore Aero Club
happenings. He also announced that Thursday Cruise Nights will resume.
• Ace Chase reported no deer or coyote problems and that the airport cookout will be on
Sunday, June 24 at 1:00M.
• Wes Rosen, Tower Chief, cautioned the commission about potential solar panel problems
should the commission entertain installing them at BVY.
• Jim Baker said he would finish painting the exterior of his hangars this year.

Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner White. Motion
passed unanimously and meeting adjourned at 9:07PM.
