Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Joanne Panunzio, to accept the minutes of the regular
meeting of January 24, 2012 as read. Motion passed.

Committee Reports
Personnel: John Kelley reported that Kevin O'Reilly invited the Mayor to a trustees' meeting to
discuss the issue of three -year contracts. In response, the Mayor invited Kevin and another
trustee to meet with him and the city solicitor at the Mayor's office. Kevin will contact the
Mayor to set up meeting at the Mayor's office.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Budget: FY2012 budget is in good shape. 2) Trust Funds: Patricia Cirone reviewed current
trust funds. 3) Building: Work is going forward to repair HVAC system using grant money.
There may also be some money from National Grid. Several contractors did a building walk
through for an RFP for masonry and skylight repairs. 4) Personnel: Jim Lauranzano is back from
medical leave. New substitute librarian started February 27. 5) Furniture: Patricia Cirone
purchased comfortable chairs for 2nd and 3 floors. 6) Cafe Tables: Laurie Greenberg, Friends
board member, is helping with cafe table and chair selection. 7) Fobs: Panic button fobs have
been received. 8) Farms Library Problems: There has been an ongoing problem with kids
misbehaving on Farms Library property. Kate Ingalls will set up a community meeting to try to
solve this problem. 9) Bookmobile: Final work is being done at Moroney Brothers.
10) Circulation Statistics: Patricia Cirone reviewed ebook and eaudio library statistics.
11) MassLNC: NOBLE passed agreement for on -going cooperation between NOBLE, MVLC,
and C/W MARS. 12) NOBLE: NOBLE's formula revision committee should be coming to a
final decision soon regarding libraries' assessments. Beverly Public Library's assessment should
remain the same. 13) Union: Patricia Cirone attended a meeting on interest based bargaining
hosted by the city for union and management in preparation for upcoming union negotiations.
14) Community Read: Patricia Cirone presented this year's community read events to city
councilors. 15) Friends Brochure: Laurie Greenberg, Friends board member, designed the new
Friends membership brochure.

Alyse Gause announced that she has retired from the board.
The next regular meeting of the board will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 7:00 PM at the Main
Library.
