2012-02-16Beverly CATV Advisory Commission Meeting DATE: February 16 th , 2012 LOCATION: Beverly Public Library, Beverly, Ma. TIME: 7:OOP.M. COMMISSION MEMBERS: Daniel Murphy — Chair - person, George Johnson, Al Torsey, Eric Overberg, Don Berman, Alex Ushakoff, Muriel Zaginailoff, Alternate - Neil Overberg. COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Daniel Murphy — Chair - person, George Johnson, Eric Overberg, Don Berman, Muriel Zaginailoff , and Alex Ushakoff PUBLIC PRESENT: none. • A quorum being present the meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M by Daniel Murphy Chairperson. • OLD BUSINESS: • Communications and correspondence: None • A motion was made by Don Berman to accept the January minutes as written and was seconded by Muriel Zaginailoff. • Prospective new members: Dan met with 2 prospective candidates; more to follow. Dan mentioned that his term expires tat he end of this year. • Operation alert: Various alternative scenarios were discussed such as posting signs under the cities blue snow ban parking lights directing citizens to tune to an AM radio broadcast station or BevCam for announcements. • NEW BUSINESS: • BevCam Report: No report available. Streaming archives are now available on the BevCam web site • RFP Status: Mr. Geleneau stated that Comcast is a qualified service provider. The RFP is on the Mayor's desk awaiting his signature. . • Organization: Don stated that the RFP plus BevCam's business plan should be the guide for our direction going forward. Muriel suggested that CATVAC needs to take on challenges more formally by developing a strategic plan and scope of operations to pass on to future commission members. Also CATVAC should determine what Mayor Scanlon expects of the CATVAC, going forward, regarding customer satisfaction with service. George suggested that the build out of the I -Net to Beverly Farms and Lynch Park should be an open issue. • OPEN ISSUES: • Search for new commission members. • Operation alert. • RFP discussion. • I -Net build out. • CATVAC organization. • BevCam's future needs in their business plan. • The next meeting, pending BevCam's agreeing, will be a quarterly meeting with BevCam on Thursday March 15 2012 at 6:00 P.M at BevCam's site at Beverly High School.
