Public Meeting Minutes

Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to accept the minutes of June 28, 2011 as
read. Motion passed.

Personnel: No report.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: Patricia Cirone reviewed the final draft of the long range plan. Alyse
Gause made the motion, seconded by Neil Olson, to:
accept the Beverly Public Library Long Range Plan as currently revised. Motion
passed.
Report of the Library Director
1) FY2012 Budget: Budget is on track but there are some concerns. The children's room flooded
and the bill for that is $11,000. Patricia Cirone is waiting to hear back from John Dunn whether
that will be covered by insurance. HVAC in Sohier Room needs to be fixed. Senior custodian
submitted his retirement papers and will need to be paid for 100 unused sick days. 2) New Hires:
Kate Carpine is the new children's librarian; Allison Babin has been promoted from reference
librarian to the new young adult librarian; Ona Ridenour has been promoted from part -time
substitute librarian to full -time reference librarian. The library is now fully staffed. 3) Flood:
Patricia Cirone expressed her concerns to Mike Collins about the recent flooding. Patricia Cirone
has also been in touch with Wes Slate. 4) Essex Street Entrance: Stairs at the front of the
building are deteriorating. 5) Security Cameras: Cameras are up and running. Still waiting for
installation of external monitoring. Mike Collins recommended fobs for staff security. 6) Alarm
Companies: Mike Collins is consolidating alarm companies. 7) Will Barnet Donation: Sam
Snyder donated a painting by Will Barnet. 8) Upcoming Events: October 26 E- Reader Event,
November 12 -20 Book Sale, Opera Class, Monday Mornings, Mediation Program, Story Hours.
