August 9, 2011 Meeting Minutes

Opening Remarks
Mr. Lowd welcomed all to the August meeting.
Minutes of Meeting
Mr. Ascolillo motioned to approve the July minutes, seconded by Mr.
Lawler. Motion carried 4 -0
Finance Report
Mr. Lawler distributed the YTD budget reports to the Commission members
for review. He indicated that the previous fiscal year has been closed and
the new fiscal year maintenance account balance is $60,000.
The Dunn Report
Mr. Dunn submitted and up -to -date BGT Capital Improvements report for
review.
The Carter Report
Mr. Carter distributed the Golf Rounds spreadsheet showing that rounds
were down from this time last year. He indicated that the work taking place
on the course could have diverted some members /players. He has some
outings that will take place in August and is anticipating 6000 rounds.
Mr. Carter stated that he is accepting down payments for next season. He
will advertise in the local newspaper. Permits now are 256; without juniors
225 to 230.
The Murphy Report
Mr. Murphy indicated that the 15 hole is complete; bunkers and drainage
all sodded. He is still working on backing up the curbing. He is also still
sodding some greens and tees; sprinklers and crush stone will be done.
After Labor Day he will be working on the drainage on 16 and 17.
The Dion Report
Mr. Dionne stated that the curtain rod for the pro shop has arrived but still
waiting on the curtain. He indicated that everything is running fine.
The Pate Report
Mr. Page distributed the Sales Spreadsheet and indicated that he is not
seeing the pickup he anticipated but they are holding their own. The
function bookings are growing. The stated that the new front doors need to
be painted and asked the Commission for a color scheme. He also stated
that the grill room needs paint.
The Pate Report — Cont'd
Mr. Page will prepare some estimated for some "major" fixes; the dumb
waiter; grill room air conditioner, and the boiler room.
Mr. Lawler and Mr. Lowd asked Mr. Page to investigate repair or replace
options and to present them at the September meeting.
Mr. Dunn indicated that tennis will be slowing down and they would like to
start construction on the new Maintenance building on 9/1. He is still
waiting for the proposed project coordinator to return from Maine to start the
project.
The LaPierre Report
He stated that the courts are all in good condition and all the functions went
well. He indicated that there are shingles falling off the Tennis Building
Roof that need to be addressed. After Labor Day; he will trim courts down
to 6.
The McHugh Report
Mr. McHugh stated everything is good and the greens are great.
New Business
Mr. Lawler would like to identify locations for the bathrooms on the course;
possibly 9 and /or 14. He also indicated that the North Shore Technical High
School would build them. We would need a quote for this project.
Guests
Jeff Keon and Dave Rinigar approached the Commission acquiring
permission to use the course for a comedy /golf movie. The production
company are locals from Beverly and want to use BGT for their movie.
They indicated that it would be excellent PR for the club. Mr. Lowd asked
Mr. Carter to meet with them to decide if they could accommodate them or
not.
