Kevin O’Reilly presided.
Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Neil Olson, to accept the minutes of May 18, 2010
as read. Motion passed.
Public Presentation

Committee Reports
Personnel: 1) John Kelley reported on the results of the library director’s evaluation. Patricia
Cirone discussed some ideas on how to address staff concerns. 2) John Kelley reported that
Pauline Teixeira received two applications for Director and Assistant Director positions, from
Patricia Cirone and Anna Langstaff. John Kelley recommended that the board offer the Director
and Assistant Director a one year contract with the same terms as the previous contract. Neil
Olson made the motion, seconded by Joanne Panunzio, to:
Offer the current director and assistant director another year on the contract under
which they are presently serving. Motion passed.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Staffing: Staffing situation is getting back to normal, with the return of two staff members
from medical leave. One more staff member is still out on medical leave. 2) Administrative
Assistant: Job was posted; offer was made and accepted by top candidate. 3) Bookmobile:
Delivery date for bookmobile will probably be in December. 4) FY2011 Budget: The Mayor sent
the proposed library budget forward as is, with the exception of the security cameras. John Dunn
hopes that funding for security cameras could be found later in the fiscal year. 5) Montserrat
College: College has approached the library about reserving space for the fall. Patricia Cirone
will contact David Gelineau. 6) FY2010 Budget: Budget is a bit tighter compared to other years
as fiscal year comes to a close, but will end in the black. 7) Collection Analysis: Staff members
are analyzing various sections of the adult collection. Patricia Cirone has hired a consultant to
analyze the library’s reference collection. 8) Upcoming Programs: Summer reading program for
children and young adults, “Go Green” and Concert on the Common (June 24).
Communications

Unfinished Business
Coffee Cart: Patricia Cirone reported that she needs to confirm some details before moving
forward.
New Business
1) Book Sale: May book sale raised about $5,000. 2) Paid Printing: Most of the glitches have
been worked out. 3) Acceptable Use Policy and Internet Policy need to be reviewed. 4) Staff
Evaluation: Pat plans to institute staff evaluations.
The next meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the Beverly
Public Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
