The communication declares an approximately 3,955 sq. ft. parcel of airport-owned land near Henderson Road (as shown on the attached plan) to be surplus to the Commission's needs. I respectfully request that in accordance with the requirements of M.G.L. Chapter 30B, your Honorable Council declare that same area to be surplus so that it can be sold through a Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The City intends to soon issue an RFP to sell a parcel of land adjacent to the Airport. The parcel was declared surplus several years ago and offered unsuccessfully for sale/lease at that time. Feedback from interested parties since then suggests an easement would likely enhance the value of the parcel in the eyes of prospective bidders by improving the ease of access. For that reason the Commission subsequently considered and voted to declare the 3,955 sq. ft. parcel surplus so that it could be 4/30/2010 Regular Meeting Page 2 of7 offered as a driveway easement with the abutting parcel. I look forward to a more detailed discussion of this request at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or Airport Commission Chairman Paul Vitale at (978) 502-9032. Respectfully, William F. Scanlon, Jr., Mayor Refer to Finance and Property #80 April 20, 2010 Honorable City Council City Hall Beverly, MA 01915 Dear Honorable Council: I hereby reappoint, subject to your review and recommendation, Mr. Dana Staples, 36 Pleasant Street, to serve as a member of the Registrars of Voters. For the past twenty seven years I have worked in the City Clerk's Office, first as a part-time clerk, then as full time. In 1987 I was appointed Assistant City Clerk and from there, in 1996, to City Clerk. I have 4/30/2010 Regular Meeting Page 3 of7 worked with many Alderman/Councilors. It has been a very rewarding experience, and I know first hand how difficult the job can be. I have been very fortunate to have a very capable Assistant and the girls in the office have been a great help. The Office is very fortunate to have a great Board of Registrars helping to make elections run smoothly. We also have had many hours of volunteer helpers. I am very grateful for the people I have worked with and the many friends I have made. The position of City Clerk is one of the greatest jobs in the world and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to fill it. Respectfully, Frances A.
