Beverly CATV Advisory Commission Meeting

COMMISSION MEMBERS:
Daniel Murphy - Chairman, George Johnson, Arthur Crandall, Al Torsey, Eric Overberg, Neil
Overberg - Alternate.
COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT:
Daniel Murphy, Eric. Overberg, Al Torsey, George Johnson
PUBLIC:
. Donald Berman, Walter Kosmowski, (BEVCAM).
. A quorum being present and Daniel Murphy opened the meeting at 7:00.
. Old business:
. The December minutes were voted on and accepted.
. Communications and correspondence: None
. Department head surveys slow but Daniel Murphy is happy with progress. Daniel
Murphy received some oral comments.
. Daniel Murphy reported that all active and alternate members will be reappointed
within the next few months.
. Other public Comments: None
. New business:
Daniel Murphy welcomed our attorney William Hewig of Kopleman and Paige. Daniel
Murphy asked William Hewig for a direction from this point forward. William Hewig
suggested 3 items
1. Budget: Must show fiscal responsibility and provide for future needs.
and complete this by the fall 2010. Bevcam should provide a budget and equipment list.
2. Public hearing: Hold around Sept. 2010, generate public interest, have public
officials present, Comcast should record meeting, Allow consumers to speak.
3. Survey: large population model- to show support for public access.
. Donald Berman asked if new contract could be negotiated early to provide money to
relocate BevCam... William Hewig said it could be done..
. Discussion followed on Comcast not properly responding to service requests per FCC
requirements. BevCam will log service issues and document problems.
. Daniel Murphy said press release was sent to Paul Leighton at the Salem News for
publication.
Discussion on having a meeting with Jane Lyman (Comcast) regarding their plan for
digital issues after February 22. Walter Kosmowski, Donald Berman, and George
Johnson will draft a letter to Jane Lyman. William Hewig said he will also contact Jane
Lyman.
. Walter Kosmowski presented the December BevCam report re: staff, production
schedule, project outreach, technical issues and financials.
. Daniel Murphy passed out a draft of the broadband I -NET fiber network.

The next meeting is Wednesday, February17 Th 14, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at BevCam.
