Si2n Aooroval 1. 31 West Street. Ener2V North Gulf. NH Si2ns 60 Old Derry Road. Londonderry. NH 03053 Jim Carpenito states that they will replace the freestanding gas price sign. He describes the materials, including square galvanized tubing for the frame and aluminum for the panel with an enameled aluminum wrapped around for the trim work. For the price changes, he explains that there will be a very small raised channel of aluminum into which the numbers slide. Finch states that it is an improvement and the other members agree. Finch: Motion to approve the sign design as presented, seconded by Bruce. Passes 5-0. 2. 5 Washin2ton Street. Good Moio Tattoos. Scott & Mulvsa Lesser. 26 Pickman Street. Salem. MA 01970 The members review the design and Finch states that it is very straightforward. Finch: Motion to approve the sign design as presented, seconded by McGowan. Passes 5-0. 3. 133 Cabot. Cabot Pizza. Awnin2 Review. Lazaro Rodri2ues. 133 Cabot Street. Beverlv. MA 01915 The members review the design. DRB November 5, 2009 Page 2 of 4 Oscar Burrion, representing the owner, states that the telephone number will not be on the awning but he would like to put something on the sides of the awning so that drivers will see the business. Newhall states that the zoning does not restrict text on the sides of the awning. Finch states that he has no problem with it as long as the letters are no more than 6 inches tall. Burrion states that the letters will be 6 inches tall on the front and on the sides. Finch states that the applicant cannot have more than 20% of the window glass covered. Brusca confirms that the DRB advised them of the window signs at the last meeting. Burrion states that they will not hang the projecting sign that was reviewed at the last meeting. The members clarify the dimensions of the awning and correct the application. Brusca confirms that the dimensions of the sides of the sign should be clearly stated and that there will be only one line of text on each side of the awning. Brusca: Motion to approve the awning sign provided the letters are no larger that 6 inches tall, there will be only one line of text on each side of the awning, the dimensions of the awning will be as amended in the application, the projecting sign will not be hung outside, and the window signage will not cover more than 20% of the glass, seconded by Bruce. Passes 5-0. 4.240 and 248 Cabot Street and 63 Dod2e Street. Danversbank. Ed Juralewicz. 33 Tozer Road. Beverlv. MA 01915 Ed Juralewicz states that Danversbank has acquired Beverly National Bank, and he is here to get sign approval for 3 locations in Beverly. 240 Cabot Street: Juralewicz states that this location has a projecting sign at the main entrance with the time and temperature sign (satellite controlled) that announces the 24-hour ATM. He states that the crown molding on the top fits well with the windows on the building. Juralewicz describes the sign facing the parking lot, which contains just the logo and the name. He explains that the drive-through will have the burgundy and grey colors on the white canopy. On the front of the building a two pairs of plaques will be replaced with Danversbank plaques in the same size as the existing ones. He states that in all they will be taking down under 60 square feet of signage and putting up under 57 square feet of signage. Finch states that the white crown on the projecting sign is tacky and doesn't reflect the classical architecture at all, and the red color looks wrong with the brick. He adds that the old sign is DRB November 5, 2009 Page 3 of 4 somewhat more subdued. He suggests removing the crown and making it a box with white banding at the top instead of the crown molding. Brusca asks if they can change the background to white and use the burgundy letters. Juralewicz says that it would be difficult to light the letters in the burgundy letters. Finch states that the white may look too stark. Bruce suggests using a black background with cream or off-white letters. Finch makes suggestions for design changes, redrawing the sign. After much discussion they agree to bring the red up above the top of the "D" diamond and to add a white band that mimics the other two white bands on the sign. Juralewicz says they will be more likely to change the crown if the red color stays. Finch states that he doesn't have as much of a problem with the color as with the other features. Bruces clarifies that the red portion will extend above the top of the "D" sign and then the white band will go above that. Finch states that the red should extend above the "D" but by a proportion equal to the width of the red space above "Danversbank". Newhall: Motion to approve the signs for this location (240 Cabot Street) as presented except that the projecting sign will have no crown molding and the red color will project above the "D" in the same proportion as the red above "Danversbank" and there will be a white band at the top that mimics the other white bands on the sign, seconded by McGowan. Passes 5-0. 248 Cabot Street: Juralewicz states that the Danversbank name and logo will replace the Beverly National name. He explains that the projecting sign will be wooden, and that a panel on the wall will be changed. For the area in the back, Juralewicz states that the sign will have non- illuminated letters, and the back door around the corner, which is visible from the parking lot, will have a new sign that is the same size as the existing sign. Finch states that he has no problem with these signs. Finch: Motion to approve the signs for this location (248 Cabot Street) as presented, seconded by Brusca. Passes 5-0. 63 Dodge Street: Juralewicz states that the last location is at North Beverly Plaza at 63 Dodge Street, and they have a total of 4 signs with logos. He stated that they would like to go to illuminated channel letters that are face-lit and halo-lit. He explains that the signs will be DRB November 5, 2009 Page 4 of 4 moving from the fascia boards to the gable ends. He describes the signs on all of the sides of the building. The members agree that the signs look huge. Finch states that he is not concerned about the size of the letters but the logo looks huge, and Bruce agrees. Juralewicz offers to reduce the logo size from a 42" square to a 36" square and Bruce states that it should be brought down to 32". Juralewicz states that the one on the north fa<;ade will not be illuminated. He adds that the other logos are made of translucent vinyl and will be illuminated and halo-lit. Brusca confirms that there will be no letters on the fascia boards. McGowan expresses concern about the white letters and the black outline around the letters' sides. Juralewicz states that the black will overlap only 1J4 inch onto the front of the letters. McGowan states that it might just look like one big white glow without any definition. Finch states that he recalls seeing this before and it seems to work. The members agree that the logo on the south and east fa<;ades should be reduced to 36"x36". Finch states that they might want to position the letters and logo up higher as on the west fa<;ade, and Brusca agrees. Juralewicz states that he will be sure that from the top of the "D" in Danversbank to the fascia board there will be at least 12 inches of space to be proportionate. He adds that he will not be changing the fascia board. Bruce: Motion to approve the sign design provided that the south and east facing logos will be 36x36, and the applicant will consider the proportion of the signs in all of the gables and they will need to return to the Board if they change the ATM logo, and the signs will be placed higher in the gable if it will not look too crowded, seconded by Newhall. Passes 5-0. Approval of Minutes - October 1. 2009 Meetin2 Newhall: Motion to approve the minutes, seconded by McGowan. Passes 5-0. McGowan: Motion to adjourn, seconded by Newhall. Passes 5-0. The meeting is adjourned at 8:00 pm.
