Si2n Approval
1. 133 Cabot Street - Cabot Pizza
John Bustolin presents the design on the behalf of the owner.
Finch states that he has a problem with photographic signs in general because they become
unreadable, and Bruce agrees.
Bustolin states that the sign has already been shipped. He shows the photograph of the storefront
showing the stickers in the window. Finch states that he is not allowed to obscure more than 20%
of the window.
Bustolin states that the sign is internally illuminated.
Finch states that he is totally against this sign and he should not have had it fabricated before
coming in the DRB.
Finch states that he would prefer not to have internally illuminated signs on downtown Cabot Street,
and McGowan agrees.
McGowan suggests he make a new proposal and come back in to the DRB.
Finch suggests alternate concepts that would meet approval.
Bustolin makes note of the Board's comments and agrees to pass the information to the owner.
2. 50 Dod2e Street - Appleseed's SQuare - Tim Sullivan - Barlo Si2ns. 158 Greelev Street.
Hudson. NH 03051
Tim Sullivan states that the ZBA granted a variance for the sign, and states that they are working
within the same footprint as the original sign, and using existing steel and existing base, and
clearing up electrical issues on the base. He adds that the sign will be completely internally
illuminated (no more spot lights).

Kate asks if they are designing the tenants' panels and Mark Livesey states that they are and they
will try to make them similar.
The members express concern about the sign being too white when internally illuminated.
Finch suggests toning it down or staying with the spotlights.
Newhall states that the letter can recommend they use an opaque background for the tenants' signs,
and having the same basic color scheme for all of the tenants with a possible accent color added.
Newhall: Motion to approve the sign with the suggestion for the tenant panels to have an
opaque background and to have the tenant panels within the same color scheme or to keep the spot
lights rather than using internal illumination, seconded by Finch. Passes 4-0.
Informal Discussion
3. Corner Elliot Street and Rantoul Street - CVS - Potential Minor Modification of Site Plan
- Miranda P. Goodin2. ESQ.. Glovskv and Glovskv. LLC, 8 Washin2ton Street. Beverlv. MA
01915
Brusca arrives.
Miranda Gooding states that the property owner has always wanted this building to be brick, and the
Planning Board suggested that they use architectural elements to break up the back wall. She
explains that Main Streets reviewed this and they were OK with it; it seems to be more consistent
with the rest of the building. She adds that the previous plan was to have clapboard siding.
Finch states that he is not ecstatic about this because brick is more of a solid wall than the
clapboard. He adds that the brick that CVS uses does not create any texture. He suggests that they
should articulate the fa<;ade to break it up with panels.
Gooding says that the trellis idea could be incorporated into the design without delaying the
construction schedule.
Bruce states that the trellis should not be made of wood lathe and stapled together and that she
would prefer something made of wrought iron to match the perimeter fencing.
The members agree to recommend approving the brick provided they incorporate the wrought iron
trellis or brick pilasters.
Gooding thanks the Board and steps out.
