1. Discussion: Potential collaboration with Endicott College's Research Center on Economic
Development Initiative
Neil Douglas talks about the mission of the Economic and Community Development Council
and the need to have a file for the collection of data to further the city's economic goals. The end
result would be the development of staff to implement a program that will accomplish the
development of staff to implement a program that will accomplish those goals. Douglas notes that
progress has been slow, and that he has been impressed with the work of the Endicott Research
Center. Ed Cahill and Neil Douglas have met with Peter Hart, the Executive Director and invited
him to come to this meeting.
Discussion: Proposal by Endicott Research Center for collaboration with City of Beverly
Endicott Research Center Executive Director, Peter Hart passed out copies of a proposal to work
with the city to accomplish economic planning goals. The Center believes that they can help the
city build a local economic information center. Endicott has the ability to provide ongoing
support and regular updates to a set of wed-based economic benchmarks, charts and reports. The
updates will help create reliable data for economic decision making. The cost to the city would be
$25,000 to provide this service. Mr. Hart passed out pamphlets providing examples of the
services the Center provides to Endicott college.
Douglas moved to have available to residents Real Estate data.
City Engineer, Frank Killilea said the city would be making all data available on the internet.
Cahill thought this was a first incremental step toward the goal of improved economic planning,
but no decision has been made yet on proposal. Both Cahill and Douglas felt warmly toward this
kind of partnership with Endicott. It would provide a range of information for the city to tap into.
