MINUTES OF MEETING
September 19, 2008

Old Business:
. Candace Pike made a motion to accept minutes of last meeting Kevin Gallant second
passed 4-0.
. Candace Pike reports that there has been no progress on the TTY installation at the
Beverly Public Library.
. Tina Cassidy reports that at the time the list of establishments with outdoor seating was
made there were 13 locations, that number has since gone down and there are 4 left to be
surveyed. Candace Pike reports that she made a second visit to Wrapture. A copy of her
findings is attached.
. Community Advisory Committee - Candace Pike reports that she is on committees
regarding parking, motorcycle noise and traffic.
New Business:
. No new business.
Report from ADA Coordinator:
. Art Daignault got an e-mail from an engineer for the North Beverly Plaza who has come
up with a plan for a walkway with railings on either side to replace the stairs at CVS. It
will be fully accessible.
. Redbrick has a hearing on Monday with the AAB
. All complaints with the DOJ with the exception of Sam's Cleaners have been resolved. A
meeting was held today with Sam's Cleaners' two owners and they have agreed to install
a handicap parking space repairing all violations.
. The transition plan is almost done. Art Daignault and Bruce Bruneau will be finishing the
parks and playgrounds tomorrow all site visits will be done at that time. Kevin Gallant
has agreed to transfer the transition plan into PDP form.
. Art Daignault met with Officers John McCarthy and Russ Rollins regarding training with
the police department, Art will be meeting with supervisors and with each shift.
. Art went on his first final inspection with the building inspector at the one stop market on
Cabot Street. There are several problems with the parking lot and the ramps to the
entrance. The architect is being contacted.
. Harborlight Montessori School - Art Daignault did a partial site evaluation. None of the
bathrooms are in compliance. There is a problem with National Grid regarding the power
to the elevator.
. Art went to the North Shore music theater. He sent a list of 12 violations as a result.
. Steve Frederickson referred Kelleher Construction to the office of the ADA Coordinator
regarding the nursery school they will be building. Art Daignault looked over the plans
for them.
. Art Daignault will arrange to have the assisted listening device installed at Briscoe
Middle School. He will also change the announcement on the Beverly Channel
accordingl y.
. The parking surveys are completed, 196 total, and the have been mailed out. Totals for
the 5 categories are: 11 others, 26 exempt, 23 employee, 41 in violation and 95 in
compliance.
The next meeting of the Commission is November 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 3rd
floor.
