Bruce calls the meeting to order.

The members review the sign.
Ms. Machado is putting her new sign on the same piece of pie xi-glass that was on the
previous business. Same sign structure, sign box, etc.
Bruce asks about the window sign.
Ms. Machado states that it is a decal and will be on the door.
Bruce: Motion to approve the sign design as presented, seconded by Finch. Passes 3-0.

The members review the sign.
Bruce asks about colors. Mr. Murphy states that his sign maker didn't know the
regulations. And the sign is already made. Mr. Murphy describes his vision for the sign.
Mr. Murphy asks if he can do one sign and put it on one side of the building.
Finch states that there are too many words and too much going on it is hard to read.
Finch explains the zoning ordinance and the rules as pertaining to this particular sign.
The square footage and the number of signs for the original proposal go against zoning
regulations. DRB cannot approve signs in regards to zoning, only design.
Mr. Murphy asks if he can paint the yin yang symbol in the other square where the sign
will not be, so the appearance is more balanced as you look at the building.
Bruce states that they do not review this type of design. Newhall follows-up and states
that since the symbol will not have words the DRB won't review it as a sign.
Finch suggests putting one of the square signs on the left and possibly moving the
Welcome sign on the door as a decal.
The members discuss this potential design layout with the applicant.
Bruce states she would like to see the one square sign on the left side of the building and
move the welcome sign onto the windows. The remaining area in the sign band will not
have a sign.
Newhall: Motion to approve the proposed sign design with the following amendments:
· Place the 32" x 54" sign with the predominantly white background with black
letters reading, "Tai-Chi Kung-Fu Boxing Mystic Athletic School" in the
building's sign band to the left side of the entry.
· Do not install the other 32" x 54" business sign or the "Welcome Humility
Respect Patience" sign in the building's sign band.
Motion seconded by Bruce. Passes 3-0.
Approval of Minutes - December 4. 2008
Finch: Motion to approve the minutes with the suggested amendments, seconded by Bruce.
Passes 3-0.
Newhall: Motion to adjourn, seconded by Finch. Passes 3-0.
