Joanne Panunzio presided.
John Kelley made the motion, seconded by Dennis Geller, to accept the minutes of
September 23,2008 as read. Motion passed.

Report of the Library Director
1) Bookmobile Fundraiser: Bookmobile fundraising event raised approximately $9,000.
Patricia Cirone would like to focus on grants and large donations. Patricia Cirone will
explore the idea of putting advertising on the side of the bookmobile. 2) Enterprise Fund:
Patricia Cirone would like to explore the idea of establishing an enterprise fund. She will
also look into establishing a foundation. 3) Trust Funds: Patricia Cirone reviewed the
trust fund report. 4) State Aid: Patricia Cirone reviewed the state aid application and
compliance form. 5) New Children's Librarian: Emily Nichols has been hired as the new
supervisor of the Children's Department. 6) Conference: Joint conference of the
Massachusetts Friends of Library and Massachusetts Trustees Association will be held
November 1. 7) Holiday Closings: City Hall is closed the Friday after Christmas and the
Friday after New Year's. Patricia Cirone wondered if trustees wanted to follow City
Hall's schedule. Library will be open both days. 8) Negotiations Workshop: Patricia
Cirone will attend a negotiations workshop sponsored by the City. 9) Statistics: Patricia
Cirone reviewed circulation statistics.

1) Action Plan: FY2009 action plan was reviewed.
The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday November 25,2008 at 7:00 PM at
the Main Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 P.M.
