Chairperson Bruce calls the meeting to order.

Owner Leo Murphy states that the background will be clear, not black, and the letters will be
vinyl and attached to the window.

Bruce expresse ncern about the impact of the lights on the trees, and the members agree.
Bruce asks if the proprietors would provide their own lights for the city trees.
Newhall states that they would.
Bruce explains that the wires could be cut accidentally when the city workers are pruning the
trees. She acknowledges that it would look nice but it might be a lot to ask of the business
owners at this time.
The members discuss the logistics of providing power to the lights and the safety implications.

Newhall offers to draft a formal response or verbally advise the Beverly Main Streets people of
the DRB's thoughts. The members agree that Newhall should speak to the people at Beverly
Main Streets.
Brusca states that there should be standardization before moving ahead with this.
Bruce suggests having a pilot program on one section of Cabot Street.
4. Memo: Downtown Si2na2e
Newhall speaks about the letter from a resident, which suggests that the DRB ban internally
illuminated signs. She states that this might not be the right time to introduce this policy. She
adds that she wrote a letter of response to the resident.

5. Pharmacenter
Newhall explains that the City Council approved the sandwich board sign even though the DRB
expressed concerns about the location being 35 feet from the front door. Zoning regulation states
that sandwich board signs be no r than 12 feet from the main entrance of the business. She
adds that precedent has now ith the Council's approval of this sign.

the sign; this picture is the same one that the Council requires. In having the applicant fill in the
dimensions prior to submittal, Steve Frederickson may have a chance at catching any potential

The members agree to act on this in one year, when the sign permit comes up for renewal.
