2008-08 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 11, 2008 LOCATION: Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dettorre, Forgione, Freyer, Lydon, Mahoney, Tosi, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioners Nelson and Tognazzi PUBLIC: Dave Graham, Ken Robinson, Charlene Chase, Jim Baker, Dan Parsons, Chris Negrotti, and Bill Kossowan A. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7: 00 PM. 1. Reading of the Minutes for July 2008 - Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the July meeting. Commissioner Dettorre made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Reading of the Financial Report - Commissioner White presented the financial report for July 2008. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept both, subject to audit, seconded by Commissioner Freyer. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Chairman's Report - Chairman Vitale updated the commission: . Marshall Handly is handling the Scanlon Brothers' non-aviation use parcel acquisition and City Hall is handling the acquisition process for the airport. . Subcommittee personnel lists were handed out. . Copies of the proposed Airport C.I.P. Program were handed out to the public at the meeting. . An advertisement was placed with the Atlantic Flyer for the former NxAero property. . Tree cutting on Dan Parsons' property on Burley Street . Something Different Restaurant's Mexican Nights . In the near future, Commissioner Tosi will take an inventory of the value of all based aircraft. 1 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 11, 2008 . The Beverly High School ROTC will be invited to set up a booth at the Wings of Freedom Tour on September 19-22, 2008. . The remaining siding of the Old Tower Building will be done when a cherry picker becomes available to the Civil Air Patrol. . A profile ofBVY was included in the August issue of the Atlantic Flyer. 4. Presentations: . Jacobs, Edwards & Kelcey - Dave Graham updated the commission on Burley Street tree clearing for the W AAS and V AR. B. OLD BUSINESS 1. Subcommittee Reports: . Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee -Vice Chairman Mahoney updated the commission on the farmer's Letter of Agreement. Commissioner Barnico made a motion to approve the Letter of Agreement, seconded by Commissioner White. Motion passed unanimously. . Noise Abatement Subcommittee - Vice Chairman Mahoney discussed letters sent to complainants and proposed follow-up. . Facility Maintenance and Web site Management Subcommittee - Commissioner Forgione reported that a facilities' inspection would take place on 8/21/08 and that pictures of the former NxAero premises were posted to the airport web site. . Public Relations Subcommittee - Commissioner Freyer reported that projects were in transition for the time being. . Environmental Issues Subcommittee (& NSCC Aviation Program Update)- Commissioner Barnico reported corporate activity at New Bedford Airport was up 66% and recommended putting the construction of an access road to the end of old Runway 20 on the airport project agenda . Airport Safety & Security Subcommittee - Commissioner Dettorre reported there would be an airport safety meeting on Wednesday, August 27,2008 at 2:00PM. 2. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT - Airport Manager Mezzetti reported on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly landing fee collections, Collings Foundation payment of $2,500 for the Wings of Freedom Tour at BVY, 3rd Annual Beverly Airport Family Day, NxAero departure, C.I.P. review, departure of Connell Limited Partnership, and taxiway lighting outage.
