Colleen Bruce, Patrick McGowan, William
Finch, Jane Brusca
Associate Planner Kate Newhall
Melanie Buck
STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT:
RECORDER:
Chairperson Bruce calls the meeting to order.
1. 13 Enon Street - Carlson GMAC Real Estate - Ed Juralewicz - 33 Tozer Road. Beverlv. MA
01915
Ed Juralewicz outlines his plans for changing the existing sign for Carlson GMAC Real Estate. The
size of the sign will remain the same, but there will be changes to color and design.
Newhall: Motion to accept the sign as presented, seconded by Bruce. Passes 3-0 (Board members
Finch and Brusca were not yet in attendance)
2. 207 Cabot Street - Travel INC. Specials - Donald Wallace - 207 Cabot Street. Beverlv. MA
01915
Sally Wallace proposes her plan for putting up a sandwich board sign on which to write special travel
offers.
There is no issue with the design of the sign; the Board wonders if there will be too much clutter on the
sidewalk with two sandwich board signs from two different businesses operating out of the same
storefront.
Bruce: Motion to recommend that the council approve the sandwich board sign as presented, seconded
by Finch. Passes 5-0.
3. 240 Cabot Street - Beverlv National Bank - Ed Juralewicz - 33 Tozer Road. Beverlv. MA
01915
Ed Juralewicz presents his sign proposals for some of the auxiliary divisions of Beverly National Bank.
There is an existing projecting sign that he is going to replace with a sturdier material, paint it blank
with gold leaf lettering, and use it to identify the two divisions of the bank that would be using the 248
Cabot Street entrance. He also wants to install a sign with individual letters to identify the Cabot
Street entrance. There will also be a canopy sign with individual letters over the back entrance to the
bank.
Finch: Motion to approve the design provided that it passes zoning regulations, seconded by Bruce.
Passes 5-0.
4. 61 Cabot Street - Super Petroleum - Michael Sepinuck - 130 Wood Road. Braintree. MA
02184
Michael Sepinuck presents his sign proposals for Super Petroleum on Cabot Street.
Finch requests that an opaque background be used for everything except the letters to avoid having a
bright neon red sign on the freestanding sign.
The Board discusses the possibility of a darker red being used to avoid the bright red, or possibly a
bigger white stripe on the canopy. The Board likes the idea of the canopy being black instead of red
with or without a stripe.
Newhall: Motion to accept the freestanding sign as presented as long as the background is opaque, to
accept the wall sign as presented, to accept the gas pump signs as presented, and recommends that the
canopy be painted black with or without a stripe (either red or white), seconded by Bruce. Passes 5-0.
5. Beaver Pond Road - OSRD Site Plan Review - Carmen Frattaroli. ESQ. - 319 Derbv Street.
Salem. MA 01970
Tim Lavick from Carmen Frattaroli's office presents the site plan for a four-lot subdivision on Beaver
Pond Road.
Newhall suggests recommending using permeable surfaces for walkways and paving, and encouraging
homeowners to use plantings that don't need a lot of water so they could survive droughts. She also
suggests recommending that homeowners plant a variety of species to increase diversity on the site.
The Board discusses zoning issues and what exactly the ordinance establishes. There are questions on
what certain things on the plans mean, and the Board has trouble reviewing the plans without fully
understanding what the notations on the plans mean.
Newhall will write a letter stating the Board's questions regarding the unknowns on the plan and their
recommendation for the use of permeable surfaces on the lots.
6. Removed from the A2enda
7. North Parkin2 Deck - Cummin2s Center - Stephen Drohoskv - 100 Cummin2s Center. Suite
107-L. Beverlv. MA 01915
Stephen Drohosky presents the site plan for the North Parking Deck in the Cummings Center.
The Board discusses some of the features of the new parking lot.
Rosemary Maglio, Pleasant Street, comments on potential shining of headlights into people's homes
across Balch Street. She advocates for more screening between the parking area and the public way to
reduce impact of car lights shining onto residential areas.
The Board recommends that the Planning Board approve the site plan as presented.
