Beverlv. MA 01915 Jose Sobrinho with American Meat Market shows his sign design. 2. 44 River Street - N ationalGrid Si n - Ca Orchard Street. Haverhill. MA 01830 n Center - 40 Bruce says that designs 1 and 4 are very nice Newhall states that Sobrinho can choose to use Finch: Motion to approve designs 1 and 4, seco Jay Kahn with the Sign Center displays the design and states that National Grid purchased Keyspan, and National Grid are in the process ofre-branding all of the properties. He says that this is an extruded alumin it will.not be illuminated. can recommend approval of the design of the sign when the applicant ZBA. French: mmend approval the design, seconded by Bruce. Passes 3-0. 3. 25 Cabot Str t - Sandwich Board Si2n - Custom Medicine Pharmacenter - Marv Beckman - Custom Medicine Pharmacenter - 25 Cabot Street. Beverlv. MA 01915 Newhall reviews the setback requirements for sandwich board signs. Mary Beckman with Custom Medicine Pharmacenter says they have only two messages for the sign, and they will not put it out when it is windy. Bruce expresses concern about the location for the sign and the fact that the sign is not weighted. DRB June 5, 2008 Page 2 of 4 Beckman states that the sign can be properly weighted. Much discussion ensues about the location of the sign. Newhall states that, according to the ordinance, the sign must be within 12 feet of the main entrance. Beckman states that this is the only spot for the sign where it will not be a hazard. Newhall states that the board can write a letter to approve this using the term "precedent-setting" and cautioning against allowing this with other applicants. Bruce states that the design is fine but she would like a letter to the City Council and Steve Frederickson recognizing the zoning issue. Finch agrees. Passes 3-0. 4. 16 Dod e Street - French Bridals Si n - Linda Fre 01915 e Street Beverl MA William French with French Bridals presents a sample letter fo changing the color and the font. n. He explains that they are Bruce confirms that these are free standing letters. Finch: Motion to approve the design, seconded by Bruce. Passes 3-0. Greg Ward with Ward' Beverl 5. 53 Cabot Street - Sandwi MA 01915 t he has had this sandwich board for about 20 years. Newhall reviews the ordinance, g that the sign must be within 12 feet of the main entrance. Bruce states that this case is different because the sign is on his property. Much discussion ensues regarding the location of the sign. Ward states that he would like to have the zoning changed. Finch says that it is a City Council decision. Newhall suggests they can handle this issue in the same way they handled the Pharmacenter sign. Finch: Motion to recommend approval the design with a comment in the letter to the City Council and Steve Frederickson regarding the Board's concern about the location of the sign. 6. 311 Cabot Street - One Stop Market & LiQuors Si2ns - Ken Hanson - Star Si2n Companv - 324 Rantoul Street. Beverlv. MA 01915 DRB June 5, 2008 Page 3 of 4 Attorney Matthew Kavanagh displays the plan and describes the revisions, which were mandated by the Planning Board. Ken Hanson states that he would like these signs to match those on the Rantoul Street location. He presents color samples and states that the freestanding sign will be contained within a colonial style sign box. Kavanagh indicates the location of the freestanding sign on the plan. Finch suggests they change the freestanding sign to have an opaque background letters to be illuminated. 7. 126 Park Street - North Shore Cross Fit Si MA 01915 Finch: Motion to approve the two sign designs provided the background seconded by Bruce. Passes 3-0. Picardy presents the design. Finch confirms that this sign will not be illuminated. Bruce: Motion to approve the design as prese 8. Sam Fonzo Drive - Kelleher Constructio Passes 3-0. treet - Beverl MA 01915 Jack Kelleher describes the location of this prop Miles Gattenby with Kelleher Construction clari some points on the landscape plan. Jose Nascimento with Kelleher Construction describes the changes in the grade. Bruce requests clarification regarding the types and quantity of the trees. more trees near the public way. Bruce as ould be. uld be in the back and indicates the location on the plan. Jack Kelleher st that he would like to minimize lighting to have as much dark skies as possible. He states that they will go before the Planning Board on June 17, 2008. Newhall reviews the recommendations: . Plantings will be on the street side of the retaining wall. . Diversify the height of the plantings, incorporate other trees such as: Japanese Maples, Kousa Dogwoods, Gingko trees and Pin Oaks, . The paved area will be limited to what is necessary, with pervious surfaces for surplus parking (as permissible according to zoning and state requirements for parking lot surfaces). . Minimize light pollution, lighting for public safety purposes only. DRB June 5, 2008 Page 4 of 4 Finch: Motion to recommend approval with the above noted recommendations, seconded by Bruce.
