COMMISSION MEMBERS: Steve Pike - Chairman, George Johnson, Arthur Crandall, Al Torsey, Bob Murphy, Dan Murphy, Eric Overberg, Neil Overberg PRESENT: Pike, Johnson, B. Murphy, D. Murphy, E.Overberg PUBLIC: (BEVCAM) Walt Kosmowski, Dennis Heslet, Don Berman. · A quorum being present Steve opened meeting at 7: 00 · Dennis Heslet presented the monthly BevCam report re: Staff, Productions, and Project Outreach... .voted 5-0 to accept report · George Johnson reported that he, Dan Murphy, and Steve Pike met with Mayor Scanlon on 5/20/2008 regarding the hiring of William Hewig, attorney for Kopelman and Paige, P.C., to represent Beverly in contract negotiations with Comcast. Mayor Scanlon gave his approval. - A motion was made by George Johnson to retain William Hewig to represent Beverly... .. .Dan Murphy stipulated that this motion contain an amendment that it only be approved pursuant to acceptable financial arrangements. Bill Murphy seconded the motion... voted 5-0 to accept the motion. · Steve and George agreed to formulate a letter for Mayor Scanlon to send to Comcast to begin informal negotiations for the new contract. This is the first step in the ascertainment process. · A motion was made and seconded (5-0) to notify William Solomon of the hiring of William Hewig. · Steve assigned sub committees re: various parts of new contract with Comcast. -Dan and Eric... ..I-net issues -Steve... city departments -Bob... . crunch numbers from Comcast and other recent contracts signed by other cities and towns. -Public hearings.. . general discussion with no results. · Also discussed was issue of duplicate I-Net facilities should another vendor wish to provide cable television to Beverly. . . .no findings · The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 17,2008 at the Bevcam office, at 7:00 P.M. · At 8: 15 P.
