2004-09-16COMMISSION ON DISABILITIES Beverly City Hall 191 CABOT STREET Beverly, MA 01915 MINUTES OF MEETING September 16, 2004 Members Present: Norm Ganley, Co-Chairman; Kevin Gallant, Co-Chairman; Eileen Twiss; Elise Bernstein; Candace Pike Members Absent: Bob Nelson Guest(s): Bill Ambrefe, City Electrician; and Art Daignault, ADA Coordinator & Ex- officio Member Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. This was an informal meeting because the meeting was not posted 48 hours in advance. · There was discussion on amending the by-laws to meet six times per year. There was also discussion on what months in which to meet. · Our guest, Bill Ambrefe, explained about visual signals for traffic lights and the cost. Signal devices are $1040.00 for each intersection; push button controls are $200.00; and $1000.00 for installation per intersection. There is a $90.00 rebate from Mass. Electric for each device. The cost per intersection is $2240.00 minus the $720.00 for rebate with the final cost being $1520.00 per intersection. His suggestion is to do the Rantoul Street corridor (School, Federal, and Elliott Streets with Gloucester Crossing) with the possibility of Bridge Street and Livingston Avenue. The total cost would be $7600.00. The new owners of the Edwards School may be asked to cover School Street cost. · Report from ADA Coordinator, Art Daignault, on parking lot surveys and handicap issues with the High School and McKay School. · Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 21, 2004 NOTE: All minutes of the Beverly Commission on Disabilities’ meetings are available in alternative format upon request from the American With Disability (ADA) Coordinator at Beverly City Hall.
