Joanne Panunzio presided.
Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to accept the minutes of January 22,
2008 as read. Motion passed.

Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Police: There has been a lot of close interaction with the police dealing with the problems at
the Library. Chief Ray came to a staff meeting. There have been multiple police patrols. Several
no-trespass letters have been issued. Still looking at security cameras and more hours to staff the
third floor. Joanne Panunzio and Kevin O'Reilly will draft a letter thanking the police for their
support. 2) Defibrillator: John Archer donated funds for an automatic defibrillator for the library.
Defibrillator has been installed. 3) Upcoming Programs: February 29 Trashfinders Ball, April 2
Lizzie Borden and the Forty Whacks, May 31 Photography Day, March 2 Genealogy Class,
March 13 Pastel Workshop, Young Adult Poetry Contest 4) Building: HV AC system is still
being studied; some minor repairs have been done. National Grid has completed an electrical
survey of the Main Library building. 5) Photocopier: Lease has been signed for a new
photocopier in the circulation office. 6) Bookmobile: $22,350 has been raised for the
bookmobile. 7) Montserrat College: Patricia Cirone spoke to City Councilor Wes Slate about the
problems with Montserrat student parking, especially what the impact will be during and after
dorm construction. 8) Budget: Patricia Cirone reviewed options for the upcoming FY2009
budget, including security cameras, an HV AC service contract, an increase in gas/electric, and
establishing a line item for equipment. An overall increase of 4.43% would not include the
eventual union settlement for salaries or staffing for the third floor.

Joanne Panunzio received an email from Sally Jacobs, a Boston Globe reporter.

Still looking for a replacement for Todd Balf.

The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, March 25,2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the
Farms Branch Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
