LYNCH PARK ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES: October 25, 2007
Present: Bruce Doig, Tom Clark, Nancy Clark, Donna Mitchell, Liz Caputo, Toby
Karlyn, Nick Zarkades, Joan Fairbank, Denise Deschamps, Ginny Currier and Rich
Benevento.
Tom Clark reported that over 100 people attended our inaugural Trails & Sails
presentation on Sunday, Sept. 30th. The Essex National Heritage Commission expressed
its warm thanks to the committee via e-mail for participating and suggested that we
might want to do it again in 2008. Tom also thanked Ginny Currier for donating a
lasting souvenir of the event for each participant, an envelope containing Taft and
Lynch Park postcards and a brochure with a history of the park.
The October 13th kick-offjfund-raising party final tally was still being calculated.
The committee expressed thanks to Gail, Josceyln, Jean and Chris for their hard work on
getting the carriage house presentable.
Election of 2008 officers: Denise Deschamps was elected new chair of LP AC and Bruce
Doig was re-elected as treasurer. With a new secretary yet to be found, retiring
recording secretary Nancy Clark agreed to take notes with the understanding that her
duties would officially end with the current meeting.
Joan presented an organization chart delineating various subcommittees. The
committee agreed that an individual might serve on a subcommittee without being a
member of LP AC and that additional ad hoc subcommittees could be formed at any
time to address specific issues as they arose.
Nick presented some possible designs for the interior of the carriage house that he
planned to discuss with architect Robin Luna. He also presented a list of small projects
to enhance the Gallery including removal of pipes, painting places where they've been
taken down, adding window treatments and lighting fixtures. Nick also presented a
sample pledge card for donations.
Denise announced a meeting for November 8 rather than the usual third Thursday at
the library for the full committee to meet with Mrs. Luna and receive a professional
overview of the carriage house and its potential uses.
Respectfully submitted by
Nancy B. Clark, acting recording secretary
