2007-06-26 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: Tuesday, June 26, 2007 7: lOP .M. Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Roseann Benson, Alyse Gause, Anthony Kline, Kathleen McMahon, Neil Olson, Kevin O'Reilly, and Joanne Panunzio Board members absent: Todd Balf, John Kelley Others present: Patricia Cirone, Anna Langstaff, Helga Senko, Sean Bourbeau Recorder: Anna Langstaff Joanne Panunzio presided. Kevin O'Reilly made the motion, seconded by Anthony Kline, to accept the minutes of the Long Range Planning Committee of May 22,2007 as read. Motion passed. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Roseann Benson, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of May 22,2007 as read. Motion passed. Public Presentation Library trustees recognized Helga Senko's years of service as library trustee. Trustees presented Helga Senko with a framed photograph of the library. Committee Reports Personnel : Joanne Panunzio distributed copies of the library director's evaluation. Administration: No report. Finance: Patricia Cirone reported that the FY2008 budget passed, including Sunday hours. Long Range Plan: Alyse Gause, Joanne Panunzio, Roseann Benson, and Patricia Cirone will meet sometime after July 16 to format and update the new long range plan. Report of the Library Director 1) Rosetta Stone: Rosetta Stone is now available on-line. 2) E-Audio Books: Additional titles have been purchased, mostly children's books. 3) Computers: Staff computers have been purchased out of this year's budget. 4) Reference Desk: A new reference/information desk will be located on the third floor. 5) New Book Room: Reading room will be revamped to become a truly "new" book room. 6) Library Website: Theresa Maturevich, one of the Library's new reference librarians, is re-designing the library website. 7) Upcoming Programs: Series of Harry Potter movies for young adults, summer reading activities in the Children's room including the popular brown bag book discussion, genealogy lecture on August 7, Naked Quaker genealogy lecture on October 2, Concert on the Common on June 28. 8) Trust Funds: Patricia Cirone has been working on trust funds with John Dunn. 9) Farms Landscape Plan: Patricia Cirone has contacted the firm that did the landscape plans for the Farms Library. Communications None New Business None Unfinished Business 1) Survey: Joanne Panunzio thanked the public for participating in the library survey. 2) Budget: Anthony Kline expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Mayor, who supported the Sunday openings, the Finance Director and Library Director, who found a way to make it work within the budget, and to the City Councilors who voted and approved the budget to allow the Library to open on Sundays. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
