Mr. Finch calls the meeting to order at 6:40
1. The Onmnic Rainbow - Steven Kruczvnski/267 Rantoul Street
Mr. Kruczynski explains that his sign has been up for several years; only the fabric has been
changed. The awning sign is green plastic/fabric with purple lettering.
Mr. Jaquith moves to approve the sign as presented, Mr. Finch seconds. Motion carried 4-0.
2. Weaver Glass - Tom Mannetta/369-399 Rantoul Street/Site Plan (cont)
Mr. Mannetta reviews the revised plans for Weaver Glass. He added landscaping in the front
along the parking spots that face Rantoul Street. He also put a 3' landscaped strip along the rear
of the building that faces the residential zone. The perimeter fence will be removed from
Rantoul and Roundy Streets, but a fence on the abutting residential property will remain.
Mr. Mannetta reviews the new elevations. He shows the Board a cut sheet for the lights to be
used on the building. The window and the raised panel along Roundy Street are new additions.
Also, a secondary fa<;ade sign has been added. Mr. Weaver states that he would like to present
signs. Mr. Jaquith states that an official sign application must be submitted. Ms. Newhall states
that she will get an application for him before he leaves.
Mr. Finch asks about the window and the lights on Roundy Street. Mr. Manetta states that there
will be a street tree on that side of the building. Mr. Klimowitz approved a street tree for that
location.
Mr. Finch states that the Zoning Ordinance does not permit three signs on his building. He
suggests eliminating the sign on the Parking lot side of the building. Ms. Newhall states that
Weaver may put a window sign on the door on the parking lot sign so long as no more than 20%
of the window space is covered by signage.
Mr. Weaver states that he has a neon sign that he would like to use on the new building.
Design Review Board
June 7,2007
The Board agrees to recognize Rosemary Maglio.
Ms. Maglio asks about the rear elevation. She asks about the house on the corner of Chase and
Roundy Streets. Mr. Manetta states that there is a potential proposed driveway along the rear of
the building. Mr. Manetta states that there is an 8' fence along the property line that will remain
intact.
Ms. Newhall states that tall trees could be placed along the rear of the building, in the
landscaping strip, to break up the monotony of the rear fa<;ade.
Ms. Maglio states that she is not happy with the fact that the building does not look like it
belongs in a residential neighborhood.
Mr. Mannetta states that pine trees will be planted in both of the in the landscaped strips.
Mr. Jaquith makes a motion to approve the plans as presented with the conditions to remove the
sign on the parking lot elevation side and to come to the board for a sign permit. Finch seconds.
Motion carried 4-0.
3. Minutes
Ms. Newhall states that since Dai Shi was not present at the May meeting she may not vote on
the minutes; therefore, there is no quorum. Ms. Newhall states that she will add the May meeting
minutes to the July agenda.
4. Other Matters
The Board reviews sign enforcement. Ms. Newhall states that Mr. Nelson's last day is July 18t
and we can invite the new inspector in to discuss enforcement so that there is an understanding
of how the DRB functions and what the Board would like to see regarding sign enforcement.
Mr. Jaquith states that the Board should respond to Tina Cassidy's Tall Building Design
Guidelines. Ms. Newhall states that the Board can respond in the form of a letter or memo or
invite her to a meeting to discuss the guidelines. The Board should discuss this at the July
meeting.
5. Adjournment
Mr. Jaquith makes a motion to adjourn. Mr. Finch seconds. Motion carried 4-0.
