2007-01-23 City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: January 23,20078:00 P.M. Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Alyse Gause, John Kelley, Anthony Kline, Kathleen McMahon, Neil Olson, Kevin O'Reilly, Joanne Panunzio Board members absent: Todd Balf, Helga Senko Others present: Patricia Cirone, Anna Langstaff, Roseann Benson Recorder: Anna Langstaff Joanne Panunzio presided. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to accept the minutes of the Long Range Planning Committee of November 28,2006 as read. Motion passed. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of November 28,2006 as read. Motion passed. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to accept the minutes of the Long Range Planning Committee of December 12, 2006 as read. Motion passed. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Kathleen McMahon, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of December 19, 2006 as read. Motion passed. Public Presentation None Committee Reports Personnel: No report. Administration: No report. Finance: No report. Long Range Planning: Alyse Gause reported that the January 2007 survey has been approved. Next step will be to assess the cost. Timetable and final version of the cover letter will be presented at the next Long Range Planning meeting on February 27. Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by John Kelley, to: approve the 2007 survey as presented. Motion passed. Report of the Library Director 1) Book Challenge: Pat Cirone is forming a book challenge committee to review a children's book. Joanne Panunzio volunteered to be on the committee. 2) Budget: Patricia Cirone presented FY2008 proposed budget that includes Sunday hours. 3) Building Issues: Main Library skylight has been wrapped. Planning and Construction Committee has approved Farms fan window to be paid out of the Farms Building Fund. Patricia Cirone distributed a copy of Anthony Kline's draft letter requesting that the skylight be put on the city's capital improvement list. 4) State Aid: The library received notification of state aid award. 5) Action Plan: Patricia Cirone distributed copies of the approved action plan. 6) Upcoming Programs: Genealogy lecture on January 30, Friends annual meeting with David Dearborn on April 25, Lou Jones presentation on April 12. Communications None Unfinished Business None New Business 1) Alyse Gause shared recent newspaper articles on literature, reading, and libraries. The Long Range Planning Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 27,2007 at 6:30 P.M. at the Main Library. The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, February 27,2007 at 7:00 P.M. at the Main Library. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
