2007-04 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING APRIL 9, 2007 LOCATION: Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dettorre, Forgione, Freyer, Lydon, Mahoney, Nelson, Tognazzi, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioner Duval PUBLIC: Craig Schuster, Jim Baker, Richard Chase, Ken Robinson, Rich Mello, Tony Bettencourt, and Ray Igou A. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7: 00 PM. 1. Reading of the Minutes for March 2007 - Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the March meeting. Commissioner Freyer made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Lydon. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Reading of the Financial Report - Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the financial report. Commissioner White presented the proposed FY08 airport budget as well as the financial report for March 2007. Commissioner Barnico made a motion to accept the FY08 airport budget as amended, and to accept the financial report for March 2007 subject to audit, seconded by Commissioner Dettorre. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Chairman's Report - . Chairman Vitale proposed having a contract cleaner clean the Airport Administrative Office once per week. . Chairman Vitale said the Collings Foundation "Bomber" visit may be on the last weekend in September. Details forthcoming at the May BAC meeting. . Chairman Vitale reported the interest of Rich Little to have two airport Cystic Fibrosis events. He also suggested that some of the event proceeds be donated to the Civil Air Patrol. . Chairman Vitale said another newsletter may be sent in May 2007. 4. Presentations: . Jacobs, Edwards, & Kelcey, Inc. - Craig Schuster updated the commission on their new name, a RW27 survey on tree obstructions, and the start of finishing the localizer and REIL work. He also reminded the BAC of the M.A.C. vote for M.A.C. grant money for the RW9/27 reconstruction project. B. OLD BUSINESS 1. Subcommittee Reports: . Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee - Vice Chairman Mahoney updated the commission on a recent meeting with Civil Air Patrol and A B Aviation's new hangar location. . Public Relations Subcommittee - Commissioner Freyer updated the commission on airport web site changes and proposed improvements. Commissioner White made a motion to accept the changes for the web site improvements, seconded by Commissioner Forgione. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Steve Swartz gave an update on a proposed airport brochure. Commissioner Freyer spoke about a potential visit from AOP A's Phil Boyer, and coordinating his visit, if it happens, with the Collings Foundation "Bomber" visit or with the Mass Aviation Caucus meeting at BVY in June. Commissioner Freyer would also ask Mr. Boyer to "spotlight" BVY in AOP A magazine. . Facility Maintenance Subcommittee - Commissioner Forgione updated the commission on the proposed airport road name change and on proposed contaminated fuel containers for tiedown aircraft use. . Hangar Development/Off-Airport Obstructions - Commissioner Dettorre updated the commission on the RW27 tree removal priority and the need to get back to work on the RW16 tree removals. . Special Projects - Commissioner Tognazzi said the AdminlMaint building improvements may start in two weeks and the building maintenance extension would cost approximately $60,000. 2 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING APRIL 9, 2007 C. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the commission on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly landing fee collections, RW9/27 bid opening, Edwards & Kelcey merger with Jacobs Engineering, Cessna Citation damage, airport part-time clerk, new airport mechanic job posting, A B Aviation's new hangar location, old bulldozer removal, the need for RW34 wetland replication monitoring, and airport maintenance. D. NEW BUSINESS None E. COMMISSION COMMENTS . Commissioner White commented that membership in the North Shore Chamber of Commerce may be as or more beneficial than the Beverly Chamber of Commerce membership. F. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn made at 8:45PM by Commissioner Dettorre, seconded by Commissioner Lydon. Motion passed unanimously. 3
