2007-02-20 Lynch Park Advisory Committee Minutes for 1/18/07 & 2/20/07 Including Agenda for 3/15/07 The January meeting was held at the Beverly Public Library on the 18th, attending were Tom Clark, Nancy Clark, Ginny Currier, Liz Caputo, Joan Fairbank, Nick Zarkades and a member of the public who chose to speak on his fondness for the park, John Gray. The group devoted its time to compiling names of prominent community members to write letters of support for the Essex National Heritage Commission grant proposal due March 1. Also discussed was the meeting with Mayor William Scanlon. On February 20th, meeting at the Mayor's Office were Tom Clark, Nancy Clark, Ginny Currier, Joan Fairbank, Bruce Doig, City Engineer Frank Killilea, City Finance Director John Dunn and Mayor William Scanlon. The group discussed projects that would best fit the grant categories and determined that two projects would be addressed: restoration of the Guild Room floor and architectural drawings from Siemasko + Verbridge. Joan offered to get a figure from Raffa Construction of Beverly and Nick said he would furnish the Siemasko proposal. The mayor talked about breaking the inertia of the project after completion of the roof. He advised Tom and Nancy, who are writing the grant, to go for the top amount of $15,000 to be matched by a combination of LP AC funds and the Recreation Department Enterprise Fund under Bruce's direction, if the full amount should be bestowed. John Dunn talked about the different ways that funds for charitable purposes can be set aside from general funds and that there are ways to leverage such funds. Tom asked the mayor to consider holding a meeting with some of the city's top contractors as well as potential caterers, to which the mayor responded favorably. The mayor offered to host a September party at the carriage house to showcase the improvements and to generate further interest in the ongoing rehabilitation of the building and suggested that the Guild of Beverly Artists might do a display at that time. Next LPAC meeting is at the Beverly Public Library on March 15, 2007. Submitted by Recording Secretary Nancy B. Clark
