2006-12-11 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 11, 2006 LOCATION: Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Forgione, Freyer, Mahoney, Nelson, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioners Dettorre, Duval, Lydon, and Tognazzi PUBLIC: Steve Castle, Craig Schuster, Tony Bettencourt, Ken Robinson, Jeff Lurie, Cat Aviation (Trish) ________________________________________________________________________ A. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 1. Reading of the Minutes for November 2006 – Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the November meeting. Commissioner Nelson made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Forgione. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Reading of the Financial Report – Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the financial report. Commissioner White presented the financial report for November 2006. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the financial report subject to audit, seconded by Commissioner Freyer. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Chairman’s Report – Chairman Vitale updated the commission on the following: ?? T. Ford mini-storage facility ?? Industrial parcels ?? Approach light baffles ?? BAC Christmas dinner Chairman Vitale also solicited comments from the following people: ?? Steve Castle of NxAero LLC informed the commission he has a new chief pilot, Mr. John Davis. ?? Jeff Lurie, the Control Tower Chief, thanked the commission for the recent tree cutting and safety sign installations. ?? Trish of Cat Aviation reported three hangar bathrooms have been repaired, the furnace repairs are near completion, and the hangar door will be painted next week. 4. Presentations: ?? Edwards & Kelcey – Craig Schuster updated the commission on the RW 34 project. B. OLD BUSINESS 1. Subcommittee Reports: ?? Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee – Vice Chairman Mahoney updated the commission on hangar development opportunity status on the West Side infield area. ?? Public Relations Subcommittee – Commissioners Nelson and Freyer updated the commission on potential public relations efforts at BVY. ?? Facility Maintenance Subcommittee – Commissioner Forgione updated the commission on airport “street naming” status and ADA compliance items. Commissioner White mad a motion to authorize Commissioner Forgione to proceed with ADA compliance, seconded by Commissioner Nelson. Motion passed unanimously. ?? Hangar Development/Off-Airport Obstructions – No report ?? Airport Support Group – No report C. AIRPORT MANAGER’S REPORT Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the commission on the traffic count, RW 34 Extension Project, RW 9/27 preliminary construction plans, landing fees, 2 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 11, 2006 upcoming meetings, Barracks Building improvements, tenant insurance expirations, MALS baffles installation, and December noise complaints. D. NEW BUSINESS None E. COMMISSION COMMENTS ?? Commissioner Nelson updated the commission on the status of the Danvers explosion. ?? Commissioner Barnico talked about how a Connecticut town is spending millions on its airport and is also buying a whole neighborhood to help alleviate noise. F. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn made at 8:23PM by Commissioner Nelson, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. 3
