2006-10-05 Public Meeting Minutes - Design Review Board October 5, 2006 Page 1 Design Review Board Public Meeting Minutes Meeting: Design Review Board Date: October 5, 2006 Present: Leah Zambernardi, William Finch, Colleen Bruce, Larry Jaquith Absent: None Recorder: Diane Presutti The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. 1, Music FYE Movies-Ray Dion/65 Dodge Street/Sign Mr. Dion presented a sign to replace existing “Strawberry’s” sign. The new sign will be 18’ x 32” made of channel letters. Mr. Finch motioned to accept as presented, seconded by Ms. Bruce. Motion carried 4-0. 2. Eastern Bank-Batten Bros. Sign/81 Bridge Street/Sign Ms. Batten stated that Eastern Bank wishes to replace their existing sign with a new wall sign of 30” x 120”. The new sign will be internally illuminated and replaces an existing sign. Ms. Bruce stated that there is an existing sign underneath the primary wall sign that should be removed. Mr. Jaquith motioned to accept as presented contingent upon removing the existing sign referring to the drive-up, seconded by Mr. Finch. Motion carried 4-0. 3. Seams-Harper Della-Piana/197 Cabot Street/Sign Ms. Della-Piana presented a sign design to be displayed measuring 20” x 24”. The sign will be a tad smaller than the space provided. It will be oval with dark grey backing and gold lettering. She will also have lettering on the door. Mr. Finch motioned to accept as presented, seconded by Ms. Bruce. Motion carried 4-0. 4. Kintish Chiropractic-Philip Wysor/58 Dodge Street/Sign Public Meeting Minutes - Design Review Board October 5, 2006 Page 2 Mr. Wysor of Glovsky & Glovsky presented a sign to be displayed at Mr. Kintish’s new location of 58 Dodge Street. The sign will be 2’ x 3’ over the door of dark green and white. The sign will be illuminated by a gooseneck light. There will also be a directory sign measuring 32” x 24”. The lights will be extinguished in the evening. Mr. Finch motioned to accept as presented, seconded by Ms. Bruce. Motion carried 4-0. 5. Dom’s Trattoria-Ralph & Angela Dominick/1 West Street/Sign The Dominick’s presented two wall signs to be displayed on the corner building. The two signs will be non-illuminated and made of wood and gold leaf lettering. They will measure 4’ x 8’ and 32” x 3’. They also wish to add verbiage to the end of the facia sign. Mr. Finch advised them to come back with the verbiage they wish to add to the sign, and indicated that signage is for business identification only. Ms. Bruce stated that it may give their nice sign a cluttered look. Mr. Jaquith motioned to accept as presented, seconded by Mr. Bruce. Motion carried 4- 0. 6. Minutes of September 7, 2006 Ms. Bruce motioned to accept the minutes of September 7, 2006, as presented, seconded by Mr. Jaquith. Motion carried 4-0. 7. Other Bellamia: The Commission discussed the new awning being displayed without an application being submitted for approval. Ms. Zambernardi will send a letter. Historical Society: The Commission also discussed sending a letter to the Historical Society regarding the procedure for putting up new signage. Mandrake: Ms. Zambernardi stated that this restaurant put up an awning different from the one that was approved by the Commission. PhoneDepot: Ms. Zambernardi will follow up. She indicated that Sprint was not ready with their new sign. Beverly Jade: Mr. Jaquith stated that the beer signs on this restaurant need to be removed.
