2006-06-15 COMMISSION ON DISABILITIES Beverly City Hall 191 Cabot Street Beverly, MA 01915 MINUTES OF MEETING June 15, 2006 Members Present: Elise Bernstein, Karen Bloodgood, Kevin Gallant co-chair, Michele Gordon, Jack Vickery Members Absent: Bob Nelson, Candace Pike co-chair Ex Officio Members: Todd Bloodgood and Arthur Daignault Guest(s): Old business: ?? Motion made by Kevin Gallant to accept the minutes of the meeting on April 20, 2006 seconded by Elise Bernstein, motion passed 5-0. ?? Kevin Gallant reports that he will be adding the upcoming events on the website. Report from ADA Coordinator: ?? All parking surveys went out today. There are about 185 of them, 106 are non-compliant, 34 are in compliance, 43 are exempt and 2 are listed as “other”. ?? Cummings Center Walkway - Mayor Scanlon received a letter saying that Cummings Properties would be happy to name the walkway after Norman Ganley with signage at the north and south ends of the walkway. The Commission will purchase the signs and Cummings Center will install them. The walkway is nearly complete, but there is a small section still to be paved. ?? Dunkin Donuts in Beverly Farms is taking shape. th ?? Regional Commission Meeting is September 27 in the program room of the library from 12-3pm. Karen Bloodgood will arrange for refreshments. ?? Beverly Hospital - Art Daignault met with Charlie Higgins on June 1, 2006. Art gave them an application of a variance with the Architectural Access Board for the parking garage. Also copies th of three cases that had gone before the AAB and the parking surveys. They met again on June 9. Art was told they are working on a solution and hopefully they will have one by the end of the month. New business: ?? Kevin Gallant suggested buying an inexpensive digital camera as the price of film for the current Polaroid ones are an ongoing expense that could be saved. Motion made to approve the purchase made by Karen Bloodgood, seconded by Michele Gordon. Passed 5-0 Next meeting – Thursday, September 7, 2006 at 7:00 pm, 3rd floor of City Hall.
