2006-10-11 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 11, 2006 LOCATION: Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dettorre, Duval, Forgione, Freyer, Mahoney, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioners Lydon, Nelson, and Tognazzi PUBLIC: Angier Ames, Richard Chase, Wendy Beard, Jim Baker, Rich Mello, Bob Wade, Major Jacquelyn Jones, and Tony Bettencourt. ________________________________________________________________________ A. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. 1. Reading of the Minutes for September 2006 – Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the September meeting. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Reading of the Financial Report – Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the financial report. Commissioner White presented the financial report for September 2006. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the financial report subject to audit, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Chairman’s Report – Chairman Vitale updated the commission on the following: ?? Thanked the Collings Foundation, Airport Manager, staff, and volunteers for the successful WWII bomber visit. Recommended more saw horse barricades along L. P. Henderson Road. ?? NAA’s self-service fuel island has been installed but has to go through the City Council approval steps. ?? Airport website has been updated by Network Innovations; soon the airport will be able to make changes to the website without the assistance of Network Innovations. ?? The Vietnam Memorial helicopter display has been painted. 4. Presentations: ?? Edwards & Kelcey – Craig Schuster updated the commission on the RW 34 Extension project. B. OLD BUSINESS 1. Subcommittee Reports: ?? Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee – Vice Chairman Mahoney updated the commission on the A B Aviation addendum. Motion by Vice Chairman Mahoney to increase the square footage of the A B Aviation Grass Triangle lease to 7,000 S. F. through the addendum, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. ?? Public Relations Subcommittee – Commissioner Freyer has been added to the Public Relations Subcommittee. ?? Facility Maintenance Subcommittee – Commissioner Forgione updated the commission on the ADA compliance time (FY08) for the Airport Administration/Maintenance building. Commissioner Forgione listed items that needed to be cleaned up for the proposed airport clean-up day. ?? Hangar Development/Off-Airport Obstructions – Commissioner Dettorre updated the commission on which trees needed removal from the GQS surface for a WAAS system; he said tree arborist, Pierre Erhard, would get the tree information. Once removed, FAA would be asked to verify the GQS surface. ?? Airport Support Group – No report C. AIRPORT MANAGER’S REPORT Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the commission on the traffic count, landing fee revenue, MALS baffle, Hood blimp accident, Vietnam helicopter display, helicopter noise complaints, public meeting on Casco Chemical/Nike Site, FAA Annual Airport Conference, and airport maintenance. 2 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 11, 2006 D. NEW BUSINESS Airport Commission Christmas Dinner – Airport Manager handed out dinner information sheets to commissioners with instructions to please return RSVPs and dinner selections no later than November 15, 2006. E. COMMISSION COMMENTS ?? Commissioner Duval recommended Type 3 hold-line paint that contains reflective beads for the RW 34 project. ?? Commissioner Dettorre reported on the success of the prototype MALS baffle. F. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Barnico, seconded by Commissioner Duval. Motion passed unanimously.
