2006-10-05 MINUTES OF MEETING: WAR MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE OCTOBER 5, 2006 ROLLCALL : Present: Jake Petronzio, Russ Hadley, Jerry Guilebbe, George Casey and Tim Smith. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted. COMMUNICATIONS: th Bruce Lane would like to meet with the committee on Saturday October 7. Jake Petronzio, George Casey and Jerry Guilebbe will meet with him to discuss the plaques for Veterans Memorials at Odell Park. OLD BUSINESS: Jerry Guilebbe is working on the document that will detail all that is required for a service for veterans who has passed away. Jerry stated that this might take a few months to work out all the details. George Casey asked about a replacement for Doug Henderson, a discussion followed and we will all submit a name to the committee at the December meeting and make our decision then. th Jerry Guilebbe updated the group on the move, and it is scheduled for October 11 and will be completed that day. The money for this move was taken from the Veterans Budget after speaking to the Finance Director John Dunn. We will finally have a new place to hold meetings, store flags and equipment. Jake said with fall and winter approaching and Veterans Day we will hold off asking again on the changes to the walkway at the park until spring. We are going to push to have this completed before Memorial Day. We also would like to have the new plaques finished in time for Memorial Day. Jake Petronzio and Jerry Guilebbe updated the group on the Dedication of the Marine rd Corp Building at Fort Devens. The building was dedicated on September 23, 2006. The building is now known as the Cpl. Joseph Vittori Marine Reserve Center and is home to stth the 1 Battalion, 25 Marines. LtCol Peter Conlan as Commander of the unit. A Memorial Plaque was placed in the building to honor one of Beverly’s Hero’s!!! Jake Petronzio said he has been waiting for this type of dedication for Joe for a very long time. NEW BUSINESS: Discussion on Veterans Day program, Jerry Guilebbe will have the program completed in a few weeks, the VFW is the host post this year. Veterans day program will be at Veterans Memorials at Odell Park, and we will send along a thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department on how beautiful the grounds are at the Park. Motion was made to adjourn by Tim Smith, seconded by Jake Petronzio, motion passed and the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 am. th Next meeting is scheduled for November 7 at 10:00 am at the Memorial Administration Building.
