2006-09-12 BEVERLY GOLF & TENNIS COMMISSION 134 McKay Street Beverly, Massachusetts 01915 Meeting of September 12, 2006 Commission Members Martin J. Lawler III, Chairman Gary M. Lambert, Vice-Chairman Kevin Ascolillo Richard W. Barger Chad Crandell Jeffrey B. Klein Douglas Richardson Diane Presutti, Recording Secretary Mr. Lawler called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. He indicated that there were no guests present and Mr. Ascolillo was absent. Facilities: · Management Contract: The Commission reviewed the letter composed by Mr. Crandell. The letter requests a description of actions Johnson Golf Management is taking to comply with the USGA Report. The Commission liked the letter and will send it certified to Mr. Johnson. The letter will be CC to John Dunn and Roy Gelineau. Mr. Klein motioned to accept the letter as is, seconded by Mr. Barger. Motion carried 6- 0. Historic Building: There is no update received from Mr. Dunn but Mr. Lawler stated that Mr. Bouchard is actively working on life safety concerns for the club house. The Commission discussed compiling a report for the City Council indicating the urgent need of repairs and updates to the clubhouse. Monthly Finance Report: Mr. Lawler explained the budget for this year was reduced to $75,000, minus $19,000 for the tennis building, new sprinkler system and North Shore Fire Apparatus. He also indicated that any monies left over from last fiscal year went into the reserve fund. The capital outlay is $55,000. Golf Course Architect: Mr. Barger indicated that Brian, the architect, received a blue print of improvements of the golf course. He also indicated that the final outline will be here by the end of month. He stated that the Commission needs to hire a drainage engineer, and then irrigation will follow in February or March. He stated that the drainage engineer will present the plan to Concom then they need to prioritize including the maintenance building. ·Policy & Grievance: No discussion at this time. ·Old Business: Gale Report Implementation: See above. Tennis Update: Mr. Lawler stated that the tennis business with Mr. Mercier is buzzing along nicely. Manici Status: Mr. Lawler indicated that Mr. Gelineau stated that Mr. Manici should have only been suspended for 30 days then his membership resume on a normal status. Mr. Klein is forming a bipartisan panel to hear Mr. Manici’s appeal. The Commission notified Mr. Johnson but he has yet to respond. Mr. Gelineau also wrote to Mr. Johnson’s lawyer and has yet to receive a response. New Business: · No new business at this time. Mr. Klein motioned to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Richardson. Motion carries 6-0.
