MINUTES OF MEETING
WAR MEMORIAL ADVISORY MEETING
JULY 6, 2006
RollCall
: Present: Jake Petronzio, Russ Hadley, George Casey and Jerry Guilebbe
Absent: Tim Smith
Minutes of previous meeting:
The minutes of the June meeting were reviewed. Motion was made to accept the minutes
of the June meeting; the motion was unanimously accepted as read.
Communication:
There was a communication from Fort Devens, they are going to name a building at the
base in honor of Cpl. Joseph Vittori, Medal of Honor.
A discussion on the letter took place, and a motion was made by Jake Petronzio that Jerry
Guilebbe, Veterans Agent would go to Devens to meet with the officers that are
conducting this ceremony, it was further voted on that Jake Petronzio also attend this
meeting, and then report back to the group and the committee from the Vittor Rocci Post.
OLD BUSINESS:
We still need to get a letter requesting that Tim Smith and Chuck Clark be added to the
War Memorial Advisory Committee. George Casey asked about the move here to
Memorial, as soon as Chris Rand comes back we will meet with him and arrange the
move.
George Casey asked about the status on the curb cuts and the handicap accessibility at
Veterans Memorial at Odell Park, Jerry Guilebbe will send a request to Mike Collins to
ask when he feels this will be completed.
New Business:
Jake Petronzio made a motion to ask the Public Works if they would move the cannons
out of the location that they are now and moved into the open area, it was seconded by
George and passed. We will send a request to the Parks and Recreation and Public Works
to see if this can be accomplished. We also have to have a detailed drawing or a layout as
to where we would like the cannons to be moved.
Historical:
Jake Petronzio and Russ Hadley called the person in Gloucester to see about the plaques,
and will report back in a few months with the details.
Buildings and Grounds:
Jerry Guilebbe told the group that we still need to get the roof painted on the Bell Tower
at the park before this winter; the group said it would see that this is accomplished this
month.
Finance:
The City of Beverly approved the budget for the War Memorial Advisory Committee at
$3000.00 same as last year, that money is in the Veterans Budget.
A motion was made by George Casey and seconded by Jerry Guilebbe to adjourn.
Motion was accepted; meeting was adjourned at 10:30 am.
