2003-10-16 . Lynch Park Advisory Committee A sub-committee of the Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes October 16th 2003 Members present: Chairman Rich Benevento, Tom and Nancy Clark, Mike Collins, Bob Richardson, Virginia Currier, Bob Griffm, Tom Scully, Anne Gaudette, and Joan Fairbank. The meeting discussion centered on Tappe's Master Plan Draft. Comments include: Rich Benevento felt that it did not contain any comments about "policies." Tom Scully felt that the Rose Garden estimates needed to include the arbors, colonnade, fountain and tea house. Bruce Doig said that the roof estimate for the carriage house is $63,000 and is too low. Mike Collins said the estimate two year ago was $150,000 and would now be about $160,000. As this will be the first early action item, the estimate needs a more exact figure and should include options for the balustrade and skylights. Mike Collins felt that since the "laundry" house is presently being repaired, that wording need s to be changed about its removal as an item. Tom Scully mentioned that the clock on the carriage house should be included and its cost estimate. Joan expressed concern about the five proposed areas for public restrooms both for cost and future maintenance. Process of implementation and permitting was not included. Mike Collins said that parking needs to be striped and able to be plowed. Bob Richardson said that the wording about the point walkway needs to be changed to "water run-off apron. It was not meant to be a handicap accessible walkway due to prohibitive cost. There were general concerns about overall sentences and wording. Everyone needs to email Joan with any of their proposed changes by a week from Saturday. Joan is then to compile them and send to Tappe by November 14th for a final edit. They will be presented to the Mayor and City Council on December 15th by Tappe. Our next meeting is November 20th. Fundraising: Two Major Issues 1. Get everyone in the community into it. Example: Events, like the croquet match proposed by Liz Caputo. 2. Visiting prospective donors and inviting their friends. ( More of a 1 on 1 approach.) For this we need to develop a list of possible donors. Find people who can talk to those people. We need to have pledge forms printed. Develop PowerPoint presentation of old pictures and proposal. Develop a publicity campaign. Develop a web Page for the project We need lawyers, Financial Planners, Bankers, et. Respectfully submitted, Joan Fairbank Secretary
