Public Meeting Minutes Board: Parks and Recreation Commission Subcommittee: Date: September 5, 2002 Place: Beverly Recreation Department Board members present: Bruce Doig, Mark Casey, David Gardner, Kevin Hobin, Patti Adams, Lauren Young, Elizabeth Caputo, Lisa McFadden Board members absent: Arthur Powell Others present: Joan Fairbank, Recreation Director, Tom Scully, Artie Sullivan Minutes of previous meeting were accepted as written. DIRECTOR'S REPORT · Dane St Bathhouse - some students from Endicott College will paint inside of the Dane St Bathhouse as a community service project on Saturday, Sept 7th. · 15 passenger van: has been donated to our department from the Senior Center. · Dog issue: there will be a meeting with Public Service and Aid at City Hall on Monday. · Public Art Proposal...discussed the fact that the group should have approached the Rec Commission for approval before advertising the program. Joan has a meeting with them and will clarify matters. · Lynch Park Advisory Committee: Joan distributed the list of acceptable/unacceptable activities that the group put together. Meeting 7 pm Sept 18th at the Carriage House to meet with the three consultants. · School use fees: School Department has waived the new fees for our programs. Joan suggested an annual contribution such as $500 to the schools we use. Motion was made to make a contribution (in lieu of a fee) in the amount of $500 to the school department. Motion carried with 7 in favor and 1 abstained. Patty, Mark, Lauren and Bruce will work on updating the park regulations and policies. · Artie reported that about 6 groups were charged the new field use fees established for groups running activities for profit on city fields. He explained that an agreement was made to share with the School Dept any fees collected for school fields. To date the Rec Dept has made about $2400, the School Dept about $1200. Mee!i~g. adjourned.
