2006-01-12 Minutes of the War Memorial Advisory Committee for Januray, 12 2006 Meeting was called to order by Jake Petronzio, at the Memorial Administration building at 9:00AM; the first order of business was to discuss how Veterans Day went and the dedication of the New Bell Tower. The committee did not meet in December. The dedication was by the Rev. Bob Hagopian, Minister of the First Congregational Church of Rowley. He is the son of Robert Hagopian Sr. who had given the bell to Jake Petronzio and Doug Henderson for the City of Beverly. We discussed the plaques we would like to have placed to honor Mr. Hagopian and also the students from the North Shore Vocation School who built this structure for us. Doug and Jake asked if we will be funded again this year, I will ask the Mayor and John Dunn is this is planned for next years budget. Jerry informed the group on the progress that the Beverly Vietnam Veterans Post # 1 was having with the replacement of the Stephen Doan Memorial at the Beverly Hospital. There have been meetings help with the Beverly Vietnam Veterans and Charlie Higgins at the Hospital, and there will be more to report sometimes in March. The design is complete and all that is need is a schedule that will work for the hospital and some additional funds. Jerry asked if anyone has contacted Mike Collins about the walkways at Odell Park, and the answer was Mike is aware of what has to be done. My reply was maybe this is something we need to address directly with Mike Collins, this has to be done. The parks and recreation commission and Art Daignault, ADA Coordinator have made it clear that they do not want any more construction to be done at Veterans Memorial Park ( Odell ) unless the handicap access on the walkways are addressed. There was a motion to adjourn the meeting from George Casey and seconded by Russ Hadley, all were in favor and the meeting was adjourned at 10:30AM
