2001-06-11 BEVERLY AIRPORT COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 2001 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Duval, Farmer, Gourdeau, Lydon, Mahoney, Nelson, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioners Eaton and Rosen PUBLIC: Ken Lewis, Craig Schuster, Ken Robinson, Peter Simpson, Gardner Trask, Dave Graham, Kathleen McLaughlin, Steve LeBel, and Richard Mello A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Farmer called the meeting to order at 7:30PM. 1. Presentation: · Edwards & Kelcey Update – Dave Graham and Craig Schuster updated the Commission on the grant submittal to FAA on the ENF Scoping for RSAs and Wetland Revalidation project. Project to start very soon. 2. Reading of the Minutes for May 2001 – Chairman Farmer called for a reading of the minutes from the May meeting. Commissioner White made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Nelson. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Reading of the Financial Report – Chairman Farmer called for a reading of the financial report. Commissioner White gave the financial report for May 2001. Commissioner Gourdeau made a motion to accept the financial report subject to audit, seconded by Vice Chairman Vitale. Motion passed unanimously. B. OLD BUSINESS: · Beverly Aviation Day Update – Vice Chairman Vitale updated the Commission on the latest preparations. C. NEW BUSINESS: None D. AIRPORT MANAGER’S REPORT: Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the Commission on NEESCOM, airfield maintenance equipment, the Wyler lease, Hangar Four, the traffic count, blimp fees, the crack seal project, the Mello drainage problem, the off-airport fatal aircraft accident, the tiedown occupancy status, the Wenham tax abatement, the airport logo, and the U. S. Senior Golf Championship airport preparations. F. CHAIRMAN/COMMISSION COMMENTS: BEVERLY AIRPORT COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 2001 · Chairman Farmer asked the commission what logo they preferred for airport equipment: the regular city logo, the new city logo depicting the Hannah, or the airport logo depicting a seagull flying over a runway. The commission preferred the airport logo. · Chairman Farmer told the commission that the Airport Manager evaluation would be on next month’s agenda. Commissioner Mahoney requested the Airport Manager’s past and future work plan information be sent to the commissioners. · Chairman Farmer announced that he was pleased with the Aviation Day arrangements thus far. · Chairman Farmer regarding Ransom Gurnard estimates said that when Ransom submitted their estimate to the city to have E&K do an independent estimate of Ransom’s figures. · Chairman Farmer regarding old airport snow plow trucks, offered that if city gets the trucks that the value (e.g. highest offer) be subtracted from the airport debt. · Chairman Farmer asked for a motion to approve up to $5,000 for Beverly Municipal Airport Aviation Day. So moved by Commissioner Lydon, seconded by Commissioner Gourdeau. Motion passed unanimously. · Chairman Farmer thanked Peter Simpson for all his efforts in helping put Aviation Day together. · Chairman Farmer thanked Steve LeBel for his towing of a banner advertising Aviation Day. · Commissioner Nelson questioned several helicopter operations that she had received questions about. · Chairman Farmer told Commissioner Gourdeau that he (Gourdeau) would be on next month’s agenda to discuss airport industrial parcels. G. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Gourdeau, seconded by Commissioner Nelson. Motion passed unanimously.
